My main problem is that it knots too easily. I've been useing just anything (standard suave, target brand) but would like to improve the quality of my hair.
Welcome Welcome Welcome!!!!!
To answer your question would take a while as it is quite vague....
I will attack an area of hair care.....if this doesnt have the answer you so desire, feel free to post again with a more specific question.
For me, product isnt as important as method of application. Now dont get me wrong, I have my brand of products and thats all I use.
I tried not using shampoo for the last 2 weeks and I have mixed feelings about it. I loved how it felt, my hair did start to regulate the oils on its own even after only week one. But it just isnt for me. I am really happy with washing with shampoo 2 times a week. When I do shampoo, I use an amount that equalls the size of a pea and I only let it stay on my hair for a few seconds after approx 3 or 4 seconds of masaging it in. I only wash the hair above my ears so not to strip what little oil there is from the ends. I do condition the whole length of hair though.
As for rinsing, I use cold water (I usually take quite cold showers anyways) which gives the hair a healthy shine.
This should help reduce the knots. Also, my hair is quite long now, so I have to keep my hair restrained some kind of way of the wind does its little dance and makes it a wreck.

My hair is naturally oily, so I tend to wash every other day(when I can, college) However, I never would have thought of using cold water.
My hair is also VERY oily and I live in south Louisiana where the humidity is outrageous so i know what dirty hair feels like. Even with washing every day, you dont have to wash the ends, the soap run-off with take care of that.
