I just had an inch trimmed off my hair, --- and am VERY happy with the results!!
For the past 3 and 1/2 years I had decided to only trim off split ends myself (using the famous, "Search & Destroy" method, --- which I think I first read about on HairReligion's website). This had been working fine, as long as I kept after the little buggers... But, lately I was getting increasingly UNhappy with the shapelessness and lack of any sort of "style" I would see every time I looked at my hair in the mirror. So, I finally decided it was time for a minor professional trim...
Well, my hair may be a full inch shorter now; but, trust me, I've gained a big boost in feeling a hell of a lot better about it, --- it just falls, lays, and flows so much easier & smoother now! I had asked the professional to give me a "V-shape" cut in back... and I think he did a very, VERY excellent job of taking off the minimum amount of length for getting the maximum amount of styling that I wanted!
Now, I bet some of you are wondering... who is his hairstylist? Well, I'm lucky, in that: I live with him!! Yep, for those of you who already know that my partner's name is Even, it was him that I approached re. doing the dirty deed... And, YES, --- for those of you who know this already, Even is NOT actually a professional hair stylist; but, instead is... a DOG-GROOMER!!!
After seeing what a beautiful job he does with his canine clients (who regularly bark, squirm, and occasionally even bite him), I figured he might appreciate a more coperative patron by working his magic on ME (lol).... Pictures will be taken & shared SOON!!!

Ken, Am anxious to see the photos. I'm sure Even did an excellent job. I'm hope you didn't scratch or nip at him too bad. lol.
peace, jonalbear
Ken, that's great you are happy with the results. I'll even bypass the remarks about the appropriateness of the stylist!

Hi Ken...
I'm anxious to see the pics.. I look forward to the day I have long hair and can get it all evened out... somedays I look in the mirrow and wonder; what the hell am I doing?
Peace...
Tristan
It's funny you bring this up now because I was contemplating letting my wife trim my ends a little and she's a dog groomer! So am I, but she has actually done a human before. (my nephew,on the short side) I hesitate because at the same time as trusting her to do descent job, she still prefers my hair a lot shorter. What a quandary!
As for Even, I have no dought that he did a fine job even if you tried to bite him! I look forward to the pictures.

(Ya know, every good dog groomer puts a ribbon on thier finished work!)
Hi Ken
I am so happy that all has turned out so wonderful for you and especially know what it feels like to be so happy about a good trim and how much better the hair looks when it gets to our lenghts. And to think that it was your partner who was able to do it the best of all. GREAT!
Hey, isn't the feeling just like walking on cloud nine? No wait. In a case like this it would have to be cloud 10. :-)
But now for the "big question:" at the end of your trim were you given a lollypop, Bubblegum, or a dog biscuit? LOL :-)
Cheers!
Justin~
That's great to hear Ken, you're very lucky to have a groomer living with you :P
Hi Ken,
Of course I am SO happy for you that Even did such a great job on your hair, and I assume the ends must be looking great now. This could even translate to a longer terminal length, as there would be fewer tangles that cause breakage.
Sometimes, I think a professional trim might be worthwhile for me, but the problem is I cannot trust anyone to do that right now.
Of course, I am eagerly awaiting your latest pictures!
Take care,
David
Hi Ken,
I'm glad it turned out well. Our groomer gives us the option of a bow or a bandanna after Mimi-Poochini is clipped. We always take the bandanna, even though it results in gender confusion.
I'm eager to see the pictures.
Cheers,
Don
What???? You don't bite and squirm????
LOL
Kevin
Hi Ken.
Well just add me to the list waiting to see your trim pics.Like you I havn't had a professional trim since Aug.'05 more than two years ago.I also was getting an itchy trigger finger so to speak to dial up my trusted stylist here and make an appointment but I keep putting it off.I'm just worried that not trimming it over such a long time may actually hurt my desire to have fuller hair towards the ends at my waist.Maybe after seeing your pics it might finally get me over the edge enough to finally make that call.Or better yet when I go out west sometime over the next year maybe I could use your stylist:)Anyway I'll be anxious to see you results.Mark
