Are there ANY masculine hair accessories out there? Surely I'm not the only long-haired guy in the world who wants to keep my hair out of my face now and then. The only hair accessories I can find that are halfway masculine are Celtic (which isn't always a good style choice) and Native American (which are few, far between, and expensive as hell). Any suggestions?
Depends what you are looking for.
What types of things do you want to try? Clips/slides, sticks, decorated elastics (pony cuffs and the like), etc.? There is a lot of stuff out there.
Anything good is going to cost you something, masculine or not. Well, unless you are after sticks...you can go reasonably inexpensive there if you are creative.

Be ye not frustrated.
I do not like to wear my hair in a pony tail, so I regularly used celtic clasps in various ways. I put one in face down, turn it up, and pin the hair above the clasp met a discrete bobby pin, letting it fall over.
Or, I twist my tail, fold it upward, and use a clasp to secure it.
Or, I twist my tail and fold the very end undrneath the thicker hair and use the clasp to secure it, hiding the ragged edges which I need to have trimmed.
However, I do not recomend the commericial hair sticks. They are very expensive, and do not work unless your hair is very thick and very long
If you hair is relatively thin and your tail is not immense, it is amazine what toothpicks can do, Just wind your hair into a bun, and insert one toothpick, up and down, through your hair, making sure that the front end of the pick presses down on the ragged end. Then put the second one through at oblique (90, 60 or 100) angles, to do the same. A third toothpick can also be used, and these are almost invisible.
If you have thicker hair, I suggest the equivalent of a product I hold in my nose as I type called Chef Harvey's Bamboo Skewers, 100 6 inch skewers, which I purchased at my local premium grocery for about $3.oo. If you do not find this brand I am sure you can find the equivalent.
This is the optimum masculine hair stick. If you do not like the neutral blond color, you can darken them with shoe polish, or temp hair color, as you like, but I cannot imagine a more butch way of securing a guy's long hair in a bun.
Of course, a man can wear anything in his hair. Regardless of what it is, it does not make him look feminine, unless he intentionally wishes to make it so, but it makes him look like a liberated man.
So true. If I wear my sparkly hair clips, the only people who mistake their intent are a few older cranky straight men...women don't get the wrong message, nor do gay men. (stranger compliment: "I know you aren't gay, but *compliments*) Of course, I AM in San Francisco, where diversity isn't frowned upon.

if you want to keep hair out of your face why not simply tie it back with a hair tie?
Go to the accessory aisle of your local grocery store or Target/Walmart/Kmart and just browse the shelf for the most masculine stuff you can find. With some stuff the femininity truly lies only in the packaging. A black piece of round elastic is truly unisex. Personally, I use hair ties in a selection of colors that included a dark red, dark greens, browns, tans, and black. Clips that are dark or black or your favorite color will work. Just grab something and try it and you'll see it will work if you decide it works.
