Hey, ive been growing my hair for a while now, and the bangs are a little past my shoulders, It doesn't show though because my hair curls a little but, but I think that should get better once my hair gets longer. My issue, however, is that over the school day, my hair starts to get a little greasy and starts to hang in groups of many hairs each(kind of like tiny little dreadlocks). It looks dirty, and I was it with shampoo every morning. Anyone know what I should do?
Oh do I have the same problem... My hair gets greasy in 12 hours but I wash it every other day or sometimes I manage to 2 days without washing it so that I don't dry it out with shampoo. But generally every other day.
I don't know what can I say. I've tried everything, washing it less often, not brushing it, brushing it, not touching, touching it, nothing works. It's genes I guess. But for you it could normalize if you star washing it less often.
Good luck, I hope it works out for you!
PS. Maybe eventually when our hair gets really long it will be more hair to absorb the greasiness. :D
Hey Brian,
I've got the same problem. I've started washing only the roots every morning with only a little shampoo, because if I wash all my hair every day the middle and ends get really dry.
This started me thinking...too bad I can't get all that oil down to the middle and ends of the hair. So, I'm experimenting with picking up the ends and rubbing them on my scalp. I know it sounds kind of silly. But, I think it may be working. The dry ends sort of soak up the oil, because they are like a dry sponge. I'm still testing this theory. Everyone, please let me know what you think about it.
Banana
I got it too :(
My solution is that the first day after I wash my hair, I wear it down. The second day I wear it in a half tail, where the hair in the back stays un-greasy. The third day I wear it in a full tail, and then at the end of that same day I wash it, to start the cycle over.
Not only do I avoid the appearance of greasy hair, I also change style all the time.
Try a long and gentle combing session. It should break up clumps a bit and will actually pull the oil down the hair shaft towards the end. Tell me if that actually works.
Get a natural-bristle brush and a wooden comb. Use them instead of plastic, they'll help carry the oils the full length, and absorb excess. Brush your hair out whenever you can during the day, not just once before heading to school. Also, when you brush your hair, bend forward at the waist, and brush the underside from root to tip. Again, it'll help distribute the oil and "fluff" your hair.
Oh, and wash your comb and brush every week.
I started getting the oily nonsense when I hit puberty, and at 44, I still have oily hair. It sucks, I know.
