It's been a few weeks now where I wore my hair in a bun and I must say, I love it!
I haven't gotten any negative comments about it as well (probably because I don't put hairsticks in it or 'girly' rubber bands).
I just twist my hair in a tail and loop it around and tie it with a dark brown scrunchi.
For guys who get annoyed with feeling their 'tail' when they sit or drive or whatever, wearing a bun is the perfect solution.
Ofcourse, there are those times when I scratch my back and don't feel my hair and panic briefly. LOL
I honestly prefer that look over a ponytail at this point.
I can understand the use of a bun for convenience, but from an aesthetic point of view, I can't say I'm a fan.
In my opinion, a bun defeats the purpose of long hair. I would only use it in extreme circumstances. Usually I just use a tail to get it out of my way.

So does a ponytail. LOL
I guess what I meant to say, if I had to look 'corporate', I'd prefer the bun, because a ponytail can get sloppy looking and frizzy, in my case anyway.
Then again, I'm not sure how 'corporate' would react to a guy with a bun, as opposed to a ponytail.
Great idea for using a bug.
But what is a a corporate and I've use both tail or bun and I've never had any issues and perhaps the "corporate" is more of a hangup over there.
Cheers.

Well, when growing my hair, the tailw as certainly one of the looks I aimed for. A tail shows off the length of your hair, while a bun conceals it :P
And the purpose for long hair is what? showing off the full length all the time to strangers? Enjoying the length with friends and family? Sharing it with your nearest and dearest? Saving it for yourself only?
Past a certain length, a tail no longer keeps it out of the way, and a tail is minimally protective against damage to the hair.
I like having my hair down, but I can't afford the time to deal with the tangles and damage from having it down (which includes ponytailing) all the time. It is virtually always up at work, unless someone is curious about it, then I'll pull the stick, let it tumble down, and typically put it back up (that being part of the "show"). I'll often have it down or ponytailed when I'm out with friends, or at home...and, of course, when I am with the girlfriend, we are always up for mutual hair minion duties.
It's true that in your case, with superlong hair, a ponytail doesn't really help that much. I only plan to grow to mid-back length though, so I think a ponytail should still do it's job for me. At least at the moment it is.
Robert, Bill and I happily pass on our "Longest Haired LHC Couple" crowns. Need any egging on to have you post a pic of the two of you together? The hair is optional, I just want to see your smiles!

I should do that too as when I'm doing something on the bottom shelves and my hair falls around and gets in the way. I'll have to try that. If someone made a comment to me about it looking feminine I would just get sarcastic and say something like.
"Oh you think that's grilie you should see me in lace and high heals" because in the end I just don't care what stupid people think.
Thanks
Kevin
Stupid people deserve deserve stupid comebacks like that. :-D

I haven't done that in public but lately I've been working around the house, in a crawl space doing plumbing work and I really needed to keep my hair under control. I ponytailed it with one scunci then just doubled it up with a second scunci. Then I put a hat on to keep the crap off the top of my head. It work out real well.
