Hey guys. I'm posting this because I know there are fellow death metal fans on the board.
On Tuesday, October 30 the band were travelling to a show when their van collided with another vehicle. Vitek and Covan were badly hurt and taken to hospital. Since that time, Covan has showed some improvement, but sadly, Vitek died yesterday, November 2.
For metal fans I don't need to say what an amazing talent we have lost. He was only 12 when the group formed, and still only 15/16 when the classic Winds of Creation was recorded. Even from such a skilled base, he has improved on every album and it's horrible that just as the band were really making a name for themselves - their touring schedule is INSANE - and their hard work was paying off, he is taken away.
He leaves behind a wife and a little baby girl, so sad. I have met him twice and he was unbelievably nice. Every Decapitated show I've been to, I would never see him not laughing or without a smile. Most sadly, music aside, his friends and family have lost a truly warm person. I can't imagine what Vogg (his brother) is going through, to be in the same crash (I assume the entire band was involved) that killed your brother, and a bandmate you have toured with and shared so many tour vans with for years. I hope his friends and family take solace in the fact that although 23, he had already accomplished and experienced what many people only dream of doing.
Rest in peace Vitek. And get well soon Covan.
Here are a few pictures chronicling his growth with the band (sorry if some are a little big):

Hi Vogg,
Yes I was very sad to read the horrible news about Vitek and someone that had a great drumming talent. It's such a shame when this happens to promising and great musicians and there have been many in the last 40 years. I hope that Covan recovers soon.
I've seen the band a couple of times and it's nice to see such great talent come out of Poland. I did get an opportunity to hangout and drink with them all one evening and really nice people and eager to do well and playing their brand if metal.
Vitek you will be missed my friend.
Cheers,
John.B
I did hear about this it's very sad. He was a very talented drummer and nice hair as well. The band is very good and has
a lot of potential hopefully they will recover from the tragedy
and go on. I'm sure Vitek would want that.
May he rest in peace
Kevin
I was crushed when I heard about this. I wasn't too into the last decapitated album after Sauron left but they still were one of my favourite bands. I hope Covan recovers as well, RIP Vitek and Decapitated (I assume).

This just adds to the tragedy. With Martin having left the band a while back, and Covan still in critical condition, Vogg is really the only guy left. I hope for the sake of the band members and their families that this doesn't spell the end of the band. Even non-fans respect their dedication to music and touring, and I really hope that the effort they've put into building their status to provide for their families isn't all for nothing.
This sucks on so many levels. :(
Vogg is the only original member left, and after all these years with Vitek as his brother and drummer I can't see them drying to find someone to fill the spot. Its sad as hell but maybe they'll form a new band?

So sad to hear of the loss of a promising young artist before he had a chance to reach his potential and experience a full life. At least he lived his passion. We've lost several artists in Opera and Theatre areas recently but they lived long full lives. Sad Sad Sad
This board is giving me a curiosity to explore their music and others of the genre. So nice to have a diverse community brought together by the common bond of long hair.
Peace,
Don
Only the good die young :(
omg! cant believe it, he was amongst the best drummers. So fast and so young. Ever heard of a song called spheres of madness by decapitated? Anyway sorry to here the news
