my hair is a complete afro when i wake up. i'm wondering though, is this normal? i remember when i was younger and would go sleep over with friends (at about age 10,we didnt have long hair, but it was still longer than average) i always woke up with a big messy afro looking thing and they woke up with near perfect looking hair... i still have the same problem and i'm wondering if this will ever go away or if it is even normal?
It could be normal for some of us with a certain type of hair.
Your hair looks like you slept in it because you did. :-)
The answer to the dilemma is to wash your hair, or at least wet it, in the morning. Water doing the soaking will pull the strands of hair together and then you won't look so frizzy. The amount of water that works best is "just enough to soak it" - to the point all the strands clump together. Then let it dry naturally, and minimize combing once it starts to dry.
Some guys have hair strands that just lay all together naturally after a night in the hay, but some of us don't, so we have to deal with it.
Yes, I wet mine every morning (just a few times with wet hands) before
I comb it. Sorry, forgot about that.
Don't worry, it absolutely normal, you should see me when i wake up.
Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow.
No one, and I mean no one on the face of this planet has worse hair than I do when it's short (which it was when I was a kid!). My hair when short is basically an afro. I keep it LONG...and the longer it is, the hmore it "weighs down" the hair, and the the better it looks.
My hair looks great. But I have to keep it very long for that to happen!
I suggest using a leave-in hair moisturizer. I buy a moisturizing oil product at Wal Mart. It's cheap and effective. Once you get the right "dose"...you'll even wake up with decent hair!
