Hi everyone.
Just thought I would let you know that I finally got my split-ender. It is complicated to use and takes a loong time but it REALLY works. I was skeptical but it only took off about 1/4 inch all round. I would definately reccommend!
1/4" too much...
Is this spam?

What do you call your brylcream posts then? This is ridiculous. You don't even have long hair.
cheese louise man, take it easy...
(thats why i'm here)
I'm actually interested in the split ender since ive heard of it before, however ive heard alot of bad things about it and alot of good things. The whole concept of it makes complete sense. Does it really make a noticable difference?
There is a reason the instructions say not to keep passing it through your hair too many times. If 1/8 inch is taken from the hairs in each pass that adds up fast. Four swipes of the same area sets you back a month's growth. That is fine for somebody who already has the length they want but it is not a product designed for somebody who is looking to gain length.
Actually, length loss would be a problem if the Split Ender worked as it claimed. A quick scout about online finds mixed reviews from 'damages hair' because it does not cut cleanly (leading to worse tangles and larger splits!) to 'does little' with few cut ends in the trap after use. Even the positive ones are a tepid 'okay' with long hair boards reporting a search and destroy with scissors works more acurately.
The Split Ender is a trimmer rather than a product that only cuts split ends. Only cutting hairs one by one takes out just the split ends. The benefit of the Split Ender is that you are somewhat in control of the cutting rather than a stylist. However as mentioned above, with too many swipes you can be more dangerous to your own length than a haircutter who doesn't understand minimal trim.
Unless you are going for the look of a natural tapered growth pattern or hoping to save money you might as well get a trusted stylist to do the trim for you and get the same bonus of easier to manage hair without the splits. Finding a friend who can trim straight across works too.
Ooh, one thing I learnd while searching was that the Split Ender was invented by a long haired man. :-)

Hey thanks for the advice, come to think of it thats probly true. It will just be taking off to much for my hair to actually gain the length it needs in all areas.
