I am trying to let my hair grow long but every time i go to the barber he sais that i have split ends.This is impossible if you consider that i visit him every 2 months and my hair is 8 cm. I also let my hair dry naturally. Comment on that please... Should i stop going to the same salon?
Dosen't make sence to go to the barber if you are trying to grow long hair. Your joking, right ??
It might be said that there are only two ways that barbers and beauticians make money: 1) by cutting (called styling) your hair and 2) by selling you chemicals to put on it.

I wish haircare people were willing to learn a new way to make money and win more customers: braiding hair. A lot of people want to get their hair professionally braided, but there is no place to go. It's still a do-it-your-self type of thing.
If barbers and beauticians would offer braiding services, they would have something to offer customers who say they don't want to cut their hair.
Unfortunately barbers and beauticians ignore the needs of their customers. Barbers make less money. Customers are unhappy and many never go to get any professional hair care service. It's everyone's loss.
This is a booming time for barbers. Many guys get their hair cut every week to ten days to keep their buzzed haircut looking fresh. Many barbers work nonstop from opening to close these days. I doubt that we will ever see a barber offering braiding services. There is not enough call for it to be worth their while to learn. Not to mention that most barbers would probably consider it effeminate. There are plenty of hair salons which offer braiding services. Just call them on the phone to see if they have a stylist who is good at braiding. Easy enough.
There is too much distrust of hair cutters. It seems unrealistic to expect an honest answer when a customer calls and ask someone who cuts hair for a living if they are willing to braid hair. If the hair care worker would advertise that they are willing to braid hair, then they appear more likely to offer hair-braiding service rather then try to sell haircuts. Some salon ads in the phone book include hair weaving, but I don't remember ads for hair weaving on TV or elsewhere. Once people know the service exists, it may become popular. It's better to weave hair then cut it.
These are the goods things about barbers and hair styling profressionals:

want one thing, to cut hair). Maybe Barbers should be obligated
to sign something to the effect that if they don't follow the
wishes of their customers that they go to jail.
I agree with Cosmo. If you are trying to grow long hair then why in
the heck are you going to a barber? Just let it grow!
If you are trying to grow your hair, then why are you going to the barber?
After the repeated urge, the conclusion is DO NOT GO TO THE BARBERS, if you want long hair. Look out for splits yourself and you can do your own snipping (off the split ends, that is), if you want to.

After many years of waist length hair I've come to the conclusion
that barbers and hair sytists suck. No matter how you tell them
to cut xxx" of hair they will invariabley cut xxx" + yyyy" where
they determine y by who knows what method. A question for hair
styists and barbers....do you go to school to learn ways to tick
off your customers? Hairstylists and Barbers seem to
major ticking off the customer 101 at the local hair school.
Some barbers and stylists will cut as much hair as they feel they need to, in order to get the hair to look healthy and full. If a client instists that he only wants 1/4" cut off (or whatever the length specified), that's exactly what he should get. It's not that barbers and stylists don't know various increments in length. They certainly DO! Why some cut more than what is requested is beyond me. You have every right to not pay them if they cut much more than what you specify. Perhaps you should point out to them that you will not pay for their services if they go beyond your specifications. Then again, this may just piss them off, and they'll cut a few inches just because of it. This is a tough one. Look for a barber/stylist who understands EXACTLY what you want before he/she even picks up the shears!
I am going to the barber in order to shape my hair and keep them healthy.Also I don't want to look like a hairy jerk while i am on the akward stage.
I don't think you entirely understand (or want to) the growing long
hair process.
Well, you are right about that, sure your hair looks nicer if you go to the barber to "shape it and keep it healthy", but that is exactly what makes you a short haired guy, not a longhair. Like MG said you don't really understand what growing hair is about, you have to go through the awkward satege like veryone else. By "shaping" your hair you will only prolong your awkward stage, but oh well, it's your hair, good luck.
If you are growing long hair, it has a length, not a shape.
If you are REALLY serious about having long hair, just DO NOT CUT IT.
How does a barber keep it healthy? Don't YOU ever wash it?
