Hi, do you of you dudes know any way to handle thick wavy long hair. I have wavy hair to my chin and it is very bad looking because the ends curl up. I want something that is not damaging to hair like a straightening iron or relaxer is. Are there any products that I can use? Does it work if one uses hair gels but not comb their hair afterwards? I really need some help. Thanks a lot.
Hi there:
I have similar hair to you so I think I should try to answer this:) The only thing that has worked so far for me in terms of straightening has been a straightening iron. I've been told by 3 people I know who have had relaxers put on their hair to stay away from them which was a big disappointment. I've also tried a blowdryer and various types of straightening balms and doing the blowdryer technique will straighten your hair but for myself it makes it big and volumous. As for using gel this just seems to curl wavy hair more so your best bet is a straightening iron. Alot of people on this board say they damage your hair but as long as you use the iron no more than 2-3 times a week, and are taking proper care of your hair, you should be ok. I recommend the ConAir straightening iron; the one that is somewhat small and white. Don't buy the one with the big interchangeable paddles b/c this is very awkward to use and I ended up taking it back to the store from which I purchased. So try the iron and good luck.

Thanks a lot man. I will try it.
Hi,
I can identify with you and your hair.....I have tried, gels, mouses , sprays, wax.....the whole lot and ended up with a disgusting gooey mess!!! That was untill I started with the Aussie brand Miracle Hair Insurance spray ( okay a crap name and it smells of gum ) but it kinda keeps my hair where I want it and it does my hair good too.
Its a rip of price but...its not sticky, gooey or yucky. Try some you never know
keep it long

Thanks a lot man. I'll try it.
Here is some helpful suggestions that I use, with great success:Buy and use - "instant straighten out" - Pro Vitamin Special Effects, made by: FX.
The label on the back of the 6 oz. bottlr states -
"Instant Straighten Out is a temporary, non chemical hair straightener which is activated by the heat of a blow dryer. It instantly straightens permed, naturally curly, and wavy hair into a smooth, straight, sleek, and shiny look. Straighten Out will keep hair straight and smooth until your next shampoo, defying your frustrating frizz, even in humid weather."
"To use: Distribute evenly through damp hair. Work through hair with comb or brush. Pull hair straight with hand or brush while blow drying."
I have been using this on my longer - wavy - hair, and it really works.
You can find this product at any drugstore, hair products section.
