Hi everyone,
I used to post here a long long time ago, since then I have cut my hair and am regrowing it. One thing that helped me out bigtime was wearing a bandanna to keep my hair from blowing across my face. I can't drive a car with the windows down without one right now, its too dangerous.
Anyways, I had bought a few bandannas back in the day and I'm down to two. The problem is, I can't find any now that are as soft and as small as my old ones. These new ones just don't break in or shrink down to the 21" x 21" (after ironing) that fits my head best. As a result I have stiff bandannas that I have to "tuck" in so I don't have fox ears sticking up. It's almost like they're permanently starched. Also, they tend to become rectangular by a matter of up to 2 inches, which means I can't fold them into triangles.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to specific places that would sell what I'm looking for? I'd even be willing to mail someone a check in exchange for mailing me a few, because I've looked all over (REI, gas stations, target...thats all I can think of...my old favorites were just from a gas station).

Find some fabric you like (probably all cotton would be best), cut it the size you want, and go around the edges with a sewing machine on the setting that worsts the edges. You could probably find a seamstress to do this, have you not a sewing machine. Also, a you most likely well know, the more the washings of a fabric piece, the softer it becomes.
Thats a pretty good idea and I'll look into it. I know there have got to be bandannas like the ones I used to own still available. I do like the premade banana style, with those little patterns around the border and a swirly (paisley?) in the middle on my forehead.

They have some over sized (24" x 24")bandannas (link below) made of a material that wicks moisture (sweat) well. I have a few that I wear under my hard hat when working in the desert heat. They are great and last forever.
