Hey friends,
Last time I wrote on here was over a year ago. I ended up trimming it which was a huge mistake. Now my hair is growing back and I'm happy with the progress.
I wanted to post a few pictures to get some general feedback, especially to see if there's anything I should do to it. I shampoo and condition it every few days, sometimes putting in a little coconut oil too. That's usually about it though.
I don't plan on getting any sort of trim. Just let it go for a loooong time. :)
Anyway, this board is one thing that really modivated me to try to grow it out in the first place. There's too much misinformation out there! Plus too many people to discourage you.
Any advice would be great. Any good shampoo for my hair type? Products?
Thanks!
Azeem
I remember you from before, --- and again, WELCOME BACK!!
To me, your hair looks just great! So, whatever you're doing, if it works well for you (which it obviously seems to be doing), then I would just stick with it.
One thought I have that I hope will be helpful is that of a suggestion if you ever feel tempted to cut it back to short again... So many guys here, while in the midst of going through the infamous, "awkward stages", will suddenly & impulsively "throw in the towel", --- cutting it back to pre-awkwad stage short (which, for most guys, is usually VERY short). While it is 100% true that if at all possible, if you can avoid any trim whatsoever until you reach your goal length, that this is indeed the fastest way to get loooooooong hair... this complete avoidance of going in for any trim whatsoever doesn't work for everybody (it didn't for me, at least, --- especially during the first time I grew my hair out in the '90s). The trick is: if you feel overwhelmed by the temptation to cut back to short, go instead to a reputable hair salon for a SLIGHT trim. I highly recommend only going to the very best hair salon you can find, though, --- do NOT go to any of those hair-cutting chain stores that save you $$ but break your heart! Better yet, if you can find a hair stylist who specializes in long hair (they DO exist, --- especially in the large cities), you'll be even happier! If more guys who were in the middle of trying to survive the awkward stages realized that they have more than just 2 extremely opposite choices, --- the choice between: 1.) not cutting one single hair off whatsoever, or; 2.) cutting it ALL off, and going back to short --- there would be the pleasant discovery of the fact that there are PLENTY of "medium-length" hairstyles that can look awesome on men (which is a far better way to endure making it through those awkward stages than having to literally suffer *pain* whenever looking in the mirror, until it can be tied all back into a tail)...
In any case, whether you choose to *never* go in for a trim until acheiving your goal-length; or you manage to only go in for one or 2 LIGHT trims before achieving your goal-length... rest assurred, you have a GREAT head of hair to work with there (so just DON'T, "throw in the towel" - lol)!!

Thanks a lot Ken. That's not a bad idea. If I did get any sort of trim, it would not be to sacrifice length, but just to clean it up.
Don't worry, I don't plan on throwing in the towel!
I appreciate your kind words.
