Periodically people post pictures of what they used to look like before they started growing out here and I haven't done that yet. I finally dug out a few pictures of how I had my hair for most of my adult life, contrasted with one from my last update.

I don't want to sound as though I'm insulting your previous appearance or anything, but it is quite clear from these pictures that long hair suits you far better than your old look.
If you ever need motivation to not cut your hair, just look at those photos!
I actually still like the way I look in the bottom picture of the two shorthair ones, the top one not so much lol

Whoa! what a transformation! I think both styles suit you well but I must admit I like the longhair look better.
I always enjoyed when other people used to put their "before" and "after" pictures side by side for greatest effect and there always was a tremendous transformation that occurred. Usually in other people it seemed to me that longhair made them seem much younger than shorthair. I am probably too biased and too close to it because I cannot see the age difference in my own pictures so much, so either it isn't there for me or I just can't see it!

What an amazing transformation from your short haired days to your long hair of today! You look great both ways, but you really have truly enviable long hair.
As for me, I DO have some photos of myself as a boy, both with short hair, while I was in my mid teens, them with my first long hair, in the early 70's. But I am SURE you do not want to see THOSE pictures, unless you want a BIG laugh!

Thanks David I have been meaning to find some old pictures and post them for some time and finally did! I actually do like the look in the bottom of the two shorthair pics as much as I do the current one. I do think I look fine both ways just wanted to share these pics.
I am not a big fan of my old childhood pictures either David so I can certainly agree with your feelings :)

Here is one when I was around 18, with my mom, and with my grandmother on my dad's side, taken in 1971. This was one of my earliest experiences with long hair.
I thought I had some short haired photos from the late 1960s, but I could not find those. The latest photos I could find were from the mid 1960's.

What an interesting thread! David, it's nice to see a pic of you when you were experimenting with long hair. It looked really great! (not saying now it doesn't)
I have to say I prefer the longer hair, but then I'm biased. The top short hair picture has to be from around 1987. The good thing is that you look about the same, by that I mean you do not look much older now than then. You are lucky in that respect.
I had to look back at the date the photo is from, I am terrible at keeping track of and organizing photo albums but fortunately my partner is much better at that and she has this dated as 1995! I believe the reason you dated this picture so much earlier is probably the awful glasses I had on then. They were way outdated by that time but I was using them as backup glasses at the time for some reason I cannot remember. The glasses in the lower picture I posted are the same ones I still use now and I got them in 92. So I am over 10 years younger in the top picture but even so I haven't aged too badly :)
Your hair looks so much better long than short, Chris. Keep growing it for sure.
And now here is a photo of me with short hair from about 1987.

Scott you look great in this photo, regardless of your own current bias for long hair or not you do look fine with short hair too. And thats the ugly truth :)

Thanks Mouse I still think I could go either way hairwise, long or short I guess I am lucky that way. The contrast is quite interesting in these types of posts though and that's why I like them, they get people to show us their earlier selves, always fun :)
Chris, Quite the change for you.. Must say I like the longer locks better. Here's a pic of me from 35 years ago when short hair was mandatory. Doing what I do best. Pretending that I'm really working. Yes I was in the army from 1972 to 1975.

Hey I definitely have a different look with the short hair and I will certainly never make any cut lightly if at all! It is because of the encouragement and community of this place
that I have not made any hasty decisions way before this. :)
Looking at those images Chris, you must realise that you HAVE made the right decision, you look much better with long hair.

Thanks for the compliment Dave, the pictures do represent quite a contrast in looks! Surprisingly though I think I actually look pretty good in the bottom of the 2 shorthair pictures. I am digging out all my progress pictures through the years so I can get a fair estimate of what I think of each of them objectively. I am trying to figure out if any of them looked especially better than any others. I think I differ from some people here in that for me I wonder if there is a certain length that looks better on me than just letting it grow as long as nature allows. For me that approach seems to random lol.
Currently I think I favor the shorthair picture between the two but the choice certainly doesn't have to be from just those two alternatives so thats why I am going to look through some intermediate stage pictures to see what I think.
I must say you look waay cooler now Chris with long hair!

Honestly i think i looked alot younger with short hair, it seems everyone think differently, i've heard that i looked older too.
I think you look much younger with your hair like this, but you definitely look better now growing it out. Good decision there :)

Here I am w/ my "old-shoe" b/f... This pic was taken in August of 2000. My infamous devastating Y2K haircut happened just 7 or 8 weeks earlier, on June 21st...
I actually think I look BETTER in these short-hair pics; but, that's only because I look a hell of a lot SLIMMER in them (lol)!!

Well Ken you both do look quite comfortable together as "old shoes" lol. You both look quite good there Ken despite me knowing how devestating that experience was for you. You look good both ways (not that that matters now lol).
I do like that picture you were a cute couple :) You will have to get some good pics of you and Even here if he doesn't mind being admired here for his ridiculously thick hair!
Wo Ken that is such a different look for you that I would not recognize you. You looked quite good in that picture too like a model :) It is ironic that people can look quite good to other people even if they themselves don't always like the style. If you had kept that style of hair certainly nobody would have ever said it wasn't attractive even if you felt that way yourself. One reason I don't get to mad if someone says that a longhair might look better with short hair is because to them it is true. I don't believe that every time a short hair encourages a longhair to cut their hair it is because of jealousy or anything (and I am talking about polite discussions not slurs of course) but just an honest opinion. I think you look fine either way and that is not always the case with some of these pictures here, I will say I like it both ways if it is true though :)
LOL that "tasteful" pose is skirting the line between artistic and racey! This is a family show Ken :) Christina is quite a talented photographer Ken this really is a great picture!
ChrisG, that was a wonderful idea you had there. And you look really good with short hair too. OF course, the longer look is much more appreciated :D as most of the people here would say.
Of course I know what the typical reaction would be to such a contrasting set of pictures and when others post here with their "before" and "after" pictures I tend to agree that the after pictures do look much better.
There are some people here who look fine either way and I will say so not because I think it will benefit (or harm) them in any way but just because if I think something it is so hard for me not to say it :) I am sure everyone here has noticed this LOL
