Hi everyone,
I was not originally planning an update for another month or so, but yesterday, after washing and drying my hair, it seemed to be in a "better mood" tahn normal, so I took a few photos. It was straighter than it normally is as well, possibly due to the fact the weather has been more dry lately. My hair's condition continues to improve from when I discovered the hyperboard a year ago September. (I have included one comparison photo in this update from 13 months ago)
I really have to add a few words of thanks to this wonderful community. It really is one of the best places on the web right now, and without the support of so many terrific guys and gals here, I could not have come as far as I did. Before I came here, I had been abusing my hair badly, and it hardly seemed to be growing at all, and I had feared I had reached terminal length. I am relieved to find that my earlier fears are unfounded! Now on to the pictures!

And finally, here is a photo of the back. My hair's condition has improved considerably from 13 months ago, and my crown area looks better as well.
This picture was taken 13 months ago, and was one that I posted when I asked about hair damage from earlier straightening, which I stopped doing in september 2006. For nearly a year prior to this photo, I had thought my hair had stopped growing, and I think it was due to the ends breaking off from the damage. This photo is a good reference point for my increase in length in the past 13 months, as well as an indication of my hair's condition. The crown area looks thinner in this photo as well.
That is all for now, but I really wanted to thank everyone again for all the support shown me over the past 14 months. As Nuttidave has said already, everyone here ROCKS!

Hey David! So great to see an update from you:D i can definitely see an increase in length this time around, looks healthy and well cared for, seems that the propecia is working really well for you too, the crown is hardly noticeable.

David!!!! You are so right, your hair in cracking condition compared to that earlier picture, and the length is superb. I remember you had serious concerns about your hair when you first came here, but caring for ones hair really pays dividends and these images are proof of that.
And may I say thankyou for being such an important member of this board, always full of positive vibes and cheerfulness, even in recent tough times you have been busy spurring people on . . . SO A BIG THANKS David.

Ironically David your back picture from now is much straighter looking than the one taken 13 months ago, which is interesting since you were aiming for a straighter look then. Apparently taking care of your hair (and the dryness too) just gives you straighter hair. My hair is always very straight rain or shine lol
Your hair is so long now David and I really always like the various colors in it, they go together quite well. Your hair is so shiny and smooth now I am glad that all your care is paying off as your hair is very important to you :)

Thank you for your very kind words, and I really have to say that I could not have come this far without the support of this awesome community. I remember my concerns a year ago October when I posted that first photo, and I also remember that you replied as well, and told me not to worry! As you already know, my hair IS quite important to me!
In a way, it is ironic about the straightness in these photos yesterday. I use a small amount of leave in conditioner while my hair is still damp, then let it air dry naturally, then comb with a wide tooth comb when thoroughly dry. It is straightest just after washing, then is a bit messier first thing in the morning, bedhead and all. It is always curlier when the humidity is high, so perhaps I "cheated" a bit, lol! As for the colour, I guess I have to thank Mother Nature for those gray hairs amongst the brown ones, lol!
You are always in my thoughts, and I really hope that you can get this Candida and your depression under control. Feel free to drop me a line any time you need to "vent", or just need someone to talk to.

Thank you for your kind words about my latest update. I really have to thank this community for the improvement in my hair these days. Hopefully, I can get at least a few more inches, waist length would be a dream come true.
About our Canadian dollar, it DID go on a real run a few weeks ago, but it dropped back quite a bit in the past week, and is now just slightly above the US one. Hopefully it will be reasonably high when I make my big trip in 2009, and of course I will buy dinner, lol! I am definitely looking forward to meeting you, it has been a pleasure having you with us on the team.

Just an outstanding update David! I can't get over how much it's grown. It's truly a testament to the benefits of treating hair gently and how much damage straighteners can do.
I'm also very impressed by the change in your crown area. That propecia is definitely having an effect.

Thank you for your very kind words about my latest update, and for your constant support you have given me all the way. I am definitely happy with my hair's condition, and SO glad I ditched that iron 14 months ago, which definitely stunted my growth for over a year.
I am also happy about my improvement is the crown area. Although there is still some thinning, it is considerably less noticeable than a year ago. Perhaps, one day, they will come up with a real cure for MPB.
It has been a pleasure getting to know you both on the hyperboard and over at the LHC, and looking forward to meeting you in 2009!

That picture alone shows that looking after your hair properly is very important and can have great results. I noticed the difference in your crown straight away. It would be nice to have warm weather year round. I am certainly pleased I ditched the straightening iron, which was causing so much damage that it was stunting my growth. I have to admit that I have been a lot happier with my hair than I was a year ago. Although I definitely have "bad hair days", especially when it is humid or windy, the good days are more frequent these days. Thankfully, it is still growing, I had my fears last year.

You are genuine testimony to the fact that guys our age can grow super long hair. Hopefully, the thinning in my crown will continue to improve with the propecia (I also take saw palmetto, MSM, and B vitamins in addition), and I will be able to achieve my goal length.
