It's only in the center back of my head. It's so dry it almost feels like steel wool or wire or something. I wash and condition every few days, I dont blow dry, and I dont use any hairsprays or anything. I just did a hot olive oil treatment, so I'm hoping it helps. What else should I do?
Bad news, i had the same....its a sign your going to go bald and its going to start in that spot. How old are you?
I'm 24, but I dont think that's it. I think it may be because I always start shampooing there, I may be drying it out. Ive tried a hot oil treatment and a spray leave in conditioner. seems ok now.
Pics would help, your not definatly balding so ignore that other guy, ive never heard this before, maybe you singed or burnt your hair somehow without realising... somone could have held a lighter up to the back of your head.
im just saying i had the same tipe of hair only on my crown since i could remember, then at 19 e started getting bald on that same spot. Could be the same, or not.
If it helps, I had something similar during the early stages of growing my hair out. I have wavy hair, and in roughly the same spot as you my hair was course and dry-feeling. In retrospect, I think it hat more to do with the hair being a different texture by nature right around the crown due to the waves and growth pattern than it had to do with any sort of damaging routine. It seems to have sorted itself our now that it's longer, but I would recomend still treating it like dry hair and being gentle with it (the rough texture will catch on a comb or brush more and THAT can be damaging...I'm speaking from experience on that one, though the damage seems to have been minor).

I think our hair is almost EXACTLY the same. I did another hot oil treatment and it seems to be ok for now. I'm just going to make sure i brush gently and keep on conditioning. I also got a spray in leave in conditioner. Here's hoping.
