Welcome. I started with a buzz also. I am almost at 3 years now. That will be end of Jan. 2008. Read listen and post. This is the best support site for Long Haired Men I know of. Good luck.
Hi Jared, Welcome! Hey who knows. Maybe after the year plus it takes to get to your shoulders you'll just keep on growing it down to your waist!
peace, jonalbear
Welcome Jared,
I'll be watching your progress in the future with great interest. It takes a lot of commitment and time to grow shoulder length hair. I'm also new here so I have a long journey ahead. It's almost 6 months past my last headshave. The guys and gals here will support you, as will I. We have to earn our place on this board. Long hair is something that is an outward manifestation of ones self. Growing long hair will test your resolve and resilantcy.
When I was an obsessed buzzed/bald guy I often thought of growing my hair but never got past a cut that would have met military regulations. I too made a bet, or rather a commitment, to friends to 'force' me to grow. Mine was based on weightloss. You know, that was contrived. I just wasn't ready to do it on my own. A bet can be a way to find support and an acceptable reason. You'll also have built in supporters on your side, people who want you to win. I suspect that you may really want to let your hair grow, time will tell.
At first, I was simply not getting haircuts, somewhere along the line that changed to I'm growing my hair and one day I'll look in the mirror and realize I'm a longhair. The time, effort and commitment will have paid off.
I hope your feelings change from 'proving them wrong' to wanting to grow. Perhaps they already have.
Welcome Jared! You'll find authentic support here. You have great hair. You're a good looking guy that will look even better with long hair.
Good luck growing. I, for one, will support you in your journey. May it be a journey of discovery.
Peace,
Don
Good luck and may you be successful. We will watch your progress with interest and encouragement.
Best wishes.
Jonathan
