I've heard that if you put your hair in a ponytail it grows way faster
they say that little girls in my country tie their hair with rubberbands.. and it grows extremely fast
is this true? or a myth?
That sounds like an old wives tail to me!
Cheers,

Whenever confronted with dubious claims regarding hair growth....or anything else actually, always sit back and think "Why would hair grow faster when it is in a ponytail?". There's no reasonable answer to that, and of course this is a myth, though the first time i've heard of this one in particular.
What country might that be?? It may help me answer your question.

Using elastics often stretches the hair, so it may seem longer by a few millimeters. Since each time the ponytail has grown a bit, you're stretching a new point on each hair. Thing is, it also makes your hairs weaker, more prone to breakage.
Also, using rubber bands, the office supply, is a real killer, it snags the hairs and breaks them. Fabric covered elastics are a bit better.
That makes absolutely no sense. That's just a style to wear. It's a myth. Whoever told you that pretty much has a fast growth rate and that's it.
