Okay....
I'm 18 years old, and I've had very long hair since I was about 2 (very long, as in mid-to-lower-back long). My hair is also very wavy (almost curly) and thick. I've recently gotten tired of the length. Not of long hair, but of *such* long hair.
I've been thinking of having it cut to a more convenient length for some time now, so I can maybe have some style to my hair, instead of just a pony tail day in, day out. But...there are some people who are concerned that my hair would sort of "bush out" because it's *so* curly, thick, and on the wrong days, even frizzy. Sadly, I think they're not wrong. I can tell on the hair that's reached terminal length, or got pulled out, or whatever, while it's growing back out, it gets astonishingly wavy. Almost like I have two hairstyles...a pony tail, and a developing afro.
I guess, bottom line, what do y'all think? Should I a) get it cut, and if so, b) what should I do about the afro I may face? :)
You're a very lucky guy.
I'm a black guy with a huge afro so I know the deal. You could go with the two options I went with: try out different de-frizz serums to keep your curls manageable or find an awesome chick with a sweet flat-iron and have her teach you to use it. I pretty much go back and forth between the two.
