Anyone is more than welcome to respond to this post but I am really hoping that this message gets posted and Jonalbear gets a chance to read it and respond mainly because of the subject matter how it pertains to his line of work.
I have been offically accepted by the MI dept of Corrections. Due to our MI tight budget crisis only 50 men from my geographical region were called out of 150 interviewed. Out of my group of 6 friends that were interviewed I was the only one that recieved a phone call. In one respect I was hoping not to get the phone call as that would have been the easy way out of avoiding this forced haircut. Anyway I am rambling. To the main point at hand.
I hate to say that I am still undecisive. I was real close to not accepting the position over the phone. I did accept it though but training does not begin until January. I still have a month and a half to decide or drop out. However, I have always been fascinated with understanding the criminal mind and thought of having some kind of career in law enforcement. I had no idea about the short hair thing until recently.
My question for you Jonalbear are the following questions.
Did you start out as a longhair and was forced to cut for your training or a shorthair and grew it out after you got the job? Has being a longhair made it difficult for you at work to get along with your superiors? Has long hair held you back for promotions? Would you cut your hair now if the rules changed and your superiors said you had to in order to continue with your career in corrections? If you were in my position now knowing what you know would cut your hair or choose to go into something else?
As I said anyone is welcome to respond to this post but I'm hoping that Jonalbear will respond to it and I hope I have not overwhelmed Jonalbear with silly or tedious questions. I can't explain why but I do feel kinda silly asking these questions. Thanks in advance.
Ravenslocks, Have sent you an email concerning this issue.
