It's been a while since I posted, and I have some new pics... sooo here they are. =)
This is probably one of the less conventional ways to keep warm in the winter...but it works really well! I give you - MY POT!
Here's a pic of my little snuggle buddy, Nefertiti, sharing my breakfast.
Me and Dotty the schizophrenic Dark Princess...
And finally, just a pic of my hair. It's kinda foofy, but oh well. =P
I never realize how long my hair actually is until I look at a picture O.O
AWESOME PICS!
Your hair really is long, but you can be sure it suits you very well.
Do you have any parrots? I dream of once getting a parrot (when I can afford the yearly costs). Hopefully an Eclectus :)
^.^ Thanks!
And no, I don't have any parrots. I have my hands full with the hens!
What in the world do you make in that HUGE pot? Let me guess...chicken soup.
LOL
DavidH
LOL! NO!!! These ladies are part of the family. It would be like eating the family dog or cat. But yes, we use it for massive amounts of soup ^.^ VEGETABLE SOUP!
aww they're so pretty! I've always loved chickens, heck all kinds of birds, but in milwaukee its against city ordinance to own them, though my neighbor had a rooster I used to rile up at all hours of the morning. Used to breed cockatiels and had an umberella cockatoo named angel and yes, big fluffy birds make wonderful snuggly buddies :)
LOL! Roosters are fun, but you have to be ready to wake up when they do...they're awful bossy too. Our neighbor adopted 4 lil silky chicks...one of them is definitely a rooster. I found that out at 5:30AM....
nice pics!! i wish i had a yard so i could have chickens. fresh eggs are the best. although i wouldn't have cannibal chickens like you. :)
your hair is looking fantastic as always. and it's definitely gotten longer. nice work!
peace,
nic
They're not cannibal chickens silly! Well, in a way I guess they are. But the eggs aren't fertilized =P and they loooove scrambled eggs.
That's it, Tristram, your hair's lookin' SO GR8 that I INSIST, when they finally, finally, FINALLY start makin' fantasy authoress Laurell K. Hamilton's Meredith NicEssus a/k/a/ Merry Gentry's stories into movie versions, thatcha move right t' th' front o' th' line for try-outs for the Seelie Court . . . or the Unseelie Court, for that matter (it's jus' that the Sidhe o' th' Seelie LOOK more human than the other guys do, that's all!) . . . they'd put you right t' work, hands down!
Does Nefertiti get very hot? That's every pasta chef's dream cooking vessel, esp. for neighbourhood rations! LOL! And does Dotty the schizophrenic Dark Princess really help you w/ your eggs, too? A cannibalistic game hen? Unheard of!
Best in longhair'd (and humourous) camaraderie,
Quenyan, the once and future film director
You keep raving about these books! I'm gonna have to go look them up in the store so I can imagine what you're imagining. =)
No hotter than the others. A normal chicken's body heat is about 102. And yes! All the chickies love eggs! As long as they don't know where they come from it's fine...last thing we want is them pecking their eggs open.
And I thought the girlies would be human, LOL!
I could post some of those too if you like ;)
Interesting and funny pictures Tristan! I bet Dotty and Nefertiti don't share your warm feelings for that pot however :)
Your hair really is amazingly long now Tristan, looking fantastic now dude! I hope chickens don't like to chew on hair like cats do lol.
Take care!
Oh they love the pot! They get to sample everything that comes out of it. They're sooooo spoooooiiiled.
Thanks a bunch ^.^
Here's a pic of my daughter in the henyard.
Awww! She's adorable =) very pretty hens too!
Your hair is downright awesome, Tristram. And the chickens are cool, too... =D
-James
Thanks a bunch! =) ^.^ <3 my chickies.
Hi Tristam,
What an outstanding update. Your hair is looking fabulous, it is in excellent condition, and is it ever getting long!
That is one BIG POT. You must have been having an army or something over for supper with THAT one, is it ever huge! What do you cook in that pot, anyway???
Thank you for sharing these pictures of your feathered friends as well, they are very tame!
Take care, and keep it growing,
David
^.^ well thankee very much!
A very big WARM pot! We make lots and lots of vegetable stock in it for all different kinds of soups. Good winter foods. ;)
They're not just tame, they're very lovable. =) Each with her own distinct personality. Rest assured they've all been named appropriately. ;D
Pet chickens! How cool is that! lol! I once had a Senegal parrot, but had to find her a new home when I moved. Birds make nice, unusual pets. Oddly enough, I'm also a cat person. Love your hair, btw. It looks great. Nice sense of humor in your update. Keep it growing!
David L
Awww! I do like parrots very much. Although I think I prefer a bird that I can trust not to run/fly away without having to cage it. These ladies stay close to home!
Thanks for all the nice comments ^.^
You are just TOO funny, Tristram! Well, okay, I've dug up a sample page of hers. It's attached. NOW ya see what I mean? All of the Sidhe have immensely long hair. Yours looks GR8 & by the time these novels are made into movies, whoa . . . jus' don't let that poultry sample an omelet made w/ beef a la Western-style; I can jus' see 'em converging on cattle for a feast! LOL!
Happy reading and gormandising,
Quenyan
LOL! oh the images...CHICKENS UNITE! heeeeeey....that would certainly explain why the cows in the chick-fil-a commercials are always saying "eat more chikin!"
*is reading the sample*
What a unique update.....your hair looks great and one can only assume you are living out in the country somewhere....
Great shot of "the girlies" HA!
WWT
Thanks so much! =) Actually, I'm not in the country at all! We do have a bit of land, which is only a lot if you compare it to the people who live around us.
Looks great especially the first picture awesome hair u have Tristram
Axel
Thanks a bunch! The time it took to grow has really flown by fast.
Amazing hair mate.
John.B
Thanks! I can't say there's ever been a time where I got frustrated with it o.o I guess I'm just lucky huh?
How lucky you are to have hair such as you do. It looks absolutely magnificent!
Thanks ^.^ I'm very happy with it. At Thanksgiving my Aunts were all oodling over it....apparently it smells good >.>
The hair is looking absolutely magnificent and the humor of you warming yourself using a stock pot followed by a picture of a chicken eating scrambled eggs...? I'm sure the girlies would be pecking "eet mohr boeuf" all over your walls and floor if they were able to grasp their relative position in the food chain and were unaware of your regard for them.
Thanks =) it's really refreshing to hear such nice things about my hair! Sometime when we're not using that pot, I plan to take a picture of me sitting in it =P I'm tiny enough I'll probably fit pefectly.
The girlies are quite aware of our regard for them ;) they're spoiled little brats and they know it! We love'em to death though, and wouldn't be able to eat them if we tried.
Really, really nice and, I like your friends too.
Very best wishes.
^.^ thanks a ton!
Cool pics and different from the usual.
I take it Dotty won't be ending up in the pot any time soon?
Kevin
Normal is so boring =P which is one of the reasons I love my hair ^.^
Nooo, she won't. If anything, I think she's been smoking the pot O.O she's spooky.
Hey Tristram,
Wow you do have made great strides in your hair growth as it looks awesome.Your pics are also farm friendly!LOL.I don't recall how long you've been growing your hair but regardless I like it!!You are the definition of a longhair as I'm sure your picture would show up in a dictionary under "longhair".LOL .Anyway thanks for posting those interesting shots and will look forward to others.YEA.Mark
Thanks ^.^ I just past the three year mark this past summer. Of all the things people have told me, being in dictionary has never happened before now! I feel SPECIAL =D I'll try and get some more fun shots =P
Great hair, cute birds, and a well-done update.
It must be true that the long-haired guy gets all the chicks! Here are two of mine.
Ed
Awww! They're so cute! I've turned into such a bird nut....XD Thanks for the nice comments =)
That is one big stock pot. I didn't use too many of that size during my foodservice years, those steam-jacketed kettles were more convenient. But those big pots were great for rendering 50 lbs of diced onions and some butter into a delectable base for French Onion soup.
Those hens remind me of my childhood days, visiting a nearby farm to collect eggs from the hen house. They had Rhode Island Reds there. Climbing up and down ramps in the hen house, wandering all over the property. Lot's of brown shelled eggs.
Finally, that hair. Absolutely great looking hair that suits you so well. Keep it growing and flowing for sure.
Carol
It certainly is useful to have around! We've made so many different soups from it O.O they're...so...good.
We have three Rhode Island Reds, two Gold Stars, two Plymouth Rocks, and three Araucanas. They all lay brown eggs except for the Araucanas, who lay the prettiest light blue/green eggs.
Thank so much! It's really nice to hear good things about my hair after getting so much criticism from complete strangers. Oh well, apples and oranges I guess.
Your hair is outstanding Tristram. You probably get mistaken for a girl quite often. Don't consider it an insult, but a complement. Most girls don't have hair that nice.
You have some interesting pets there. A word of caution is needed here: handling birds and food together are not a good idea. Birds, and especially chickens can carry salmonella.
Scott
Thanks for the compliments! And thanks for the warning as well, however, our birds are quite healthy and very spoiled. The common thought is that chickens are "dirty" or "carry disease," when in fact they are extremely clean and tidy creatures. The stereotype most likely originated from factory farming, where yes...the birds are very unhealthy and most likely DO carry disease from being so closely packed together. We have ten hens in a very large pen.
Thanks again!
