I have been debating for a long time about what to do with my hair because I was unhappy with the way it looked lately. I had some cut back to what you see here. I am still not completely happy with it yet but I will wait a bit longer before doing any more cutting to see what I think. It still seems too long to me, I guess really don't like what I look like with long hair :(
I did give it a try though.
The side now
oddly enouth, i like it better this way. it looks fuller. regardless, you always look amazing.
i heart you!

Hi Chris,
Actually, your hair looks fabulous in this photo. It is shinier than I have ever seen it before, and looks VERY thick. You are probably blessed with the best quality hair on the hyperboard! I am a bit sad that you cut it, but remember, the most important thing is that YOU are happy with your own hair. Your happiness and your health are the most important things of all right now.
Take care,
David
If it's a question of QUALITY vs. QUANTITY, I'd say you've nailed it! Your hair looks great in these update photos, Chris. Sometimes, less is more (but not TOO much less!). I'm sure everyone else at MLHH agrees that you look fantastic with long hair.

It looks good, Chris. Mind you, I thought it looked good when I first saw you, and it wasn't even as long as it is now. Even that was still long by most people's standards.
My personal goal is to get my hair to all grow down to my belt, but I don't know if it will get there, and at some point I might get it trimmed to give it a more defined edge, but I haven't given up growing it out yet.
everyone has their own goals. You don't have to grow it until you trip over it if you don't really want to.
Hi, ChrisG
Do you remember me? I posted my 2-Year-Update a month ago (2007/10/21) and you replied to it nicely. :)
In my update I said that sometimes when I have depressions I consider to cut/trim my hair and you said that during that time you were in such a situation. So I hope this is not a result of something like that and everything else that matters your life goes well again.
My opinion is quite similar to DavidN's and elekro's: Although I really admired your very long hair (you still are one of those users I adore most on the Hyperboard, your hair has a very nice texture and I think that the grey strands at your front look really cool), I think the trim worked out rather well and shows the magnificent quality of your hair. I still like it very much, but to be honest I more prefer the longer style (just my personal opinion, don't care about it), I just loved that grown out look. But the good thing about hair is that it more or less is always regrowable, so even if some time later in your life you want your longer hair back, you can regrow it. But we all know this can take a lot of time...
I often look in the mirror and want to chage somtething because like you said I often really don't like what look like anymore, so I often consider to cut my hair back to an eg. awkward-stage-look which suited me really well when I went through it a year ago. But then I realise that even longer hair is what will make me happy for a longer time. I hope to stay strong until I reach my goal-length (which is maybe terminal) and I hope also to be strong enough to keep it when I reach it one day. But you never really know what the future and its fortunes intend, it's really not that easy to handle such subjects, as I know from my own experience...sometimes your are convinced of things which just let run your blood cold another time (which I think is not the case fpr your subject)....
I hope you find a solution for your hair which makes you happy for a long time and if it's a shorter hair-style than what we are used you to have then go for it. :-)
It's good to hear that you considered about that for a long time and really gave it a try and that you won't get another trim immediately but think over it again, so I think this is what makes you happy. And this is the only thing that matters. Even if you havn't find your personal length yet, I'm convinced that you will find it out soon and be very content about it. To be honet, I also often really adore shorter hair-styles on men, even what is called the awkward-stage-look (but I don't like buzz-cuts and short-cuts that much, although I got them for years), it suits really well to many people, I remember the old photos of Ken shown a short time ago (long hair suits him really well, too).
I think it doesn't depend too much on a person's look (e.g. his face) if something suits him or not, but even more on his pride/personality according to his style. Don't take me wrong, I think anyone can grow out his hair and it will look great, but he has to want it regarding his deepest ideas. And if his deepest ideas go for a shorter style, this is alright (and often looks very good either). But anyone has to find out that by himself (and maybe make wrong decisions), I'm not too sure about my own style yet, but I keep it anyway, because sometimes I just feel so happy and comfortable with it, that I wonder why I wanted to change something the other day.
Good Luck!!
Regards,
Herb2992 (Germany)
I like what you did to your hair. It looks nice. I could see myself doing the same once I get some more length.

hi Chris,
sometimes you have to try something to see if it works or not. that's life--you try things, sometimes they work out and sometimes they don't. Also a trim can have the effect of making hair look thicker. Anyway, it doesn't look bad--see how it goes for awhile.
my problem lately is keeping mine out of harm's way. Today I got some of it caught in my car door. I have to develop the habit now of looking at chair backs before I sit down. Last week I sat in a wood backed chair and got some hair caught in a little crevice in the chair back. what exciting times eh? never a dull moment.
That looks great Chris.....
However, if you cut any more off, please put in an envelope and send it to me so I can glue to my "shiny-parts"....I especially want a good healthy swatch of that wonderful silver streak ! HA!
Take Care and Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face . . . ever the singer am I, Chris G. Why, I think ya look gr8! I know you've vacillated, but, heck, it'll grow back longer again; that's about the length that I'm at right now, except that it's wavy, not str8 like yours. . . which see. Chin up, bro, we all like how ya look! I, however, could NOT keep up w/t beard growin'. Guess that that ousts me from MyBeard now. Oh well.
Yours in continuously growing longhair'd camaraderie,
Quenyan
Hi Quenyan,
I apologize for the "hijack" in your reply to Chris's post, but I am sorry to hear about the end of your beard growing journey. I remember some of your earlier posts expressing your desire to grow a beard. However, I realize a beard is not for everyone, and I guess this is the cae for you. (I posted some "beardless" photos of myself from my younger days just above Chris's post here)
Take care,
David
You look better without Facial hair in my opinion
Axel

Hey guy, you have to do what is right for you. No sense being unhappy, and I know you have been vacillating over this for a while. I still looks good the way you have it cut; give it a little more time and see how you now feel about it.
No matter what, you have to please that guy in the mirror first! Then you can work on the rest of us.
George
Hey Chris
Despite all you still have long hair and it looks extremely good! And you are so right about "trying." If one has not actually tried, one will always be wondering. So rather than wonder now you know for sure what quite long hair looked like on you and have decided on a different course. Hardly a crime. And the bottom line as always is that one should just be themselves and do what makes THEM feel happiest with their hair.
Take care Chris and all good wishes to you.
Justin~
ps: Sorry I have been unable to respond to your email but I have been rather swamped with emails lately. Probably by tomorrow.
Hey Chris, I think it looks great man. The haircut actually makes it seem thicker and fuller. It's shorter now but it is still considered very long hair to the eyes of many(myself included). I think that length looks good on you. In reality, all that matters is that you're happy with your hair whether it be shorter or longer. Take care and hope have a nice evening Chris.
Hey Chris!
Well I have to say when I saw your subject I was a bit shocked and just had to immediately look at the results.Actually you still have a bit of longhair and it does look well groomed and in great condition.I certainly can appreciate how you must be feeling and its good that you are being cautious in how you are dealing with your hair doing small trims instead of going all the way to short.Actually today I had my hair professionally trimmed for the first time in 2 1/2 years.Basically I felt it needed to be done as I was having a terrible time combing through the length and the ends were getting impossible. But believe me the trim was very, very minor as I used a trusted stylist whom I've known for years and I trust totally. Its funny as she jokes that I pay her a big price for cutting off the least amount of hair!LOL.Well I will pay for who I trust and she certainly has earned that. I'll try and get a pic up of the results but really you could hardly notice as its trimmed no more than an inch.Anyway Chris enough about me as I respect how you feel and no one can say you haven't given longhair an honest chance.Hopefully, maybe you'll be happier with something in the shoulder length as its much easier to care for.So as always I appreciate what you do for this board and also chatting with you too.Whatever your hair future is I will always want to be your friend:)Please do keep us posted.Mark
Looks good Chris good descision.
Kevin
Chris, Your hair looks great! If you feel like another change I would suggest going longer instead of shorter!
peace, jonalbear
it looks great man and still long as hell!
Sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do. Personally I think it looks really good, Chris. At least you can say you've done the really long hair thing and chalk it up as another one of life's experiences. May you find comfort soon. Stay well. =)

I think it looks very nice, Chris, and it was a good, conservative decision. Better to take of a little at a time than to chop the whole lot off and regret it. How are things for you?
Mouse
Looks fine to me Chris, although the look in your eyes in those pictures tell me that this may not be the last cut you take.
Cheers Dave
Hey Chris, that pic is one of the best pics of you and your hair at that new trimmed length looks really nice. I happen to love that blunt type cut and it's because of your pic that I will eventually get mine cut similarly...once it grows out another 6 inches or so.
I do hope you don't decide to get it cut really short...but of course it's all up to you and how you feel that makes all the difference.
Cheers,
Max
You don't look happy, which concerns me because I care. And you may never be happy regarding your hair. I think you have to do what works best for you, though I am one voice among many hoping that you don't go too short. I think long hair suits you very well. Regardless of your hair future, I hope you will still hang around.
It was a valiant effort to grow it out, but if you truly feel you would be happy with a shorter style, then do it with my blessings. After all, you can change your mind and grow it back. Wish life was treating you a bit more kindly than it has, and that you were feeling bettter regarding yourself and your hair.
Hugs to you,
Carol
I like the new style on you, it suits you well.
Please do not get it cut any shorter as you may regret it.
At least at that length if you decide to continue with your hair growing journey it will be a lot easier.
I am also thinking of getting mine trim in a similar look as it will look neater.
Good luck on what ever you decide.
Looks great to me man! I think that length looks awesome on you. I probably wouldn't go any shorter though.
