Haven't posted in a while, but I'm still here. My hair is about...mid way down the neck, so many a month in a half, or two from touching my neck. The back of my hair already does so. However, my friend earlier today asked me if I had been getting small trims, as he has not noticed any growth in the last month! I haven't noticed anything. Its hard to tell. When my hair was shorter, I could see its growth as it went past certain facial features, my nose, lips, etc. But its now off my face, and as a result is harder to judge if its growing. I can easily pull hairs out, but I figured that was just shedding-those hairs were loose as they were going to fall out anyways. But now I am not so sure. Why would hair growth stop? Damage? How does the damage occur? What should I do if my hair has stopped growing? Would a trim knock new life into it?
Note: I'm hardly an expert at what split ends are, but I don't think I have any. I would think my hair is healthy from looking at it, but really, I don't know. :S
Check your diet. A low amount of nutrients (multi-vitamins, omega 3 oils, and anti-oxidents) can cause your hair to fall out and grow slow.
Up until recently my hair grows quite fast. Which is why I'm alarmed my friends have not noticed growth, and I thought it may be damaged. My diet has not changed.
I doubt it stopped if its only that long, and if you say you haven't changed your diet chances are you just don't notice the length because like you said you don't have anything to easily check like your nose or lips. Don't worry its growing in another month or two it'll be at the base of neck. I have a hard time seeing if my hair grows as well but it does trust me.

I don't think you have a single thing to fret about. What is going on now is rather normal..........but the hair IS growing and because of the stage you are in right now, a mere month is nothing at this length where many of us may have thought something was going wrong. You would KNOW split ends and from your description and no complaints about tangles and knots I would not give them a worry.
Growing out long hair seems to work this way. In the beginning you notice alot because your hair has never been allowed to grow that long. Then you run into a stage referred to as the Awkward Stage which sounds as if you are just beginning where the hair is unruly and at a point seems as if all is at some kind of a halt and to many keeps looking worse and worse. The hair IS still growing but is not long or heavy enough for gravity to pull it down. But that finally does happen. If anything, at your point I would not even think of a trim, for if you do at this stage you will set yourself way back and all will just have to grow out again to where it is now.
The example of mine above unfortunately shows the length while still damp and all does not look as full as when completely dry. But this is an example despite all of what the power of gravity finally does to the hair. And gravity will have done it far sooner than this and will for you as well. It is getting past the shoulders that seems to take forever.
Best of luck to you and just let it grow.
