Hey all longhairs! Well I figured it was time to post my last backdate photo when long, long ago I decided it was time to fulfill my draem of having longhair. This pic was taken around two years after I graduated from high school.I guess you could say I was in the awkward stage at this point but I hardly remember it really being an issue. Its really fun to think that was the shortest my hair was from that point on to present day.Anyway I know its not too impressive a pic but its cool to look back that far into the past.As always comments welcome but please be kind:) Mark
Wow that looks great even for not very long hair. That must take you back huh? =), that looks great hairball, the color is great, and there aren't any split ends on it. Looks like you really knew how to take care of it =)
Best wishes,
Josh
Hi Josh
Thanks for the kind words as that really is an old pic and it was the first time I ever started to grow longhair.I never had anything close to longhair all through my school years and I always wondered why at that time I decided to grow it.Nobody ever encouraged me as there certainly was no mlhh at that time.Well I just figured I was a natural for having hair like that and I finally took the plunge:)Take care and Happy Holidays.Mark
Hi Mark,
Thank you for sharing this photo from the days gone by, it is always cool to see these photos from our younger years. I can see that you are a true longhair at heart, and have had long hair most of your life. Even in these early days, one could see what a great head of hair you were going to be blessed with. You and I started our longhair journeys at almost the same time in our lives. I started growing my hair for the first time while I was in grade 12, and had hair similar to your length while I was in first year University, as you already saw in my own "history" photos.
Also, thank you again for your kind words about my own "historical" photos, dreadful suit and all, lol!
Take care, and my best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season,
David
Hi David
I really appreciate your thoughts on my post.Yes being you started to grow your hair around 12th grade I agree we started our first journeys around the same time in our lives.I never had many pictures of myself taken over the years but I'm thankful I had enough to look back and see how I appeared at different times in my life.I'm still amazed that to this day I never felt an urge to go back to short hair. I'm happy with my appearance and thats all that matters though I hope it didn't drive people away from me as it certainly is not the norm for someone my age.So David I too wish you a Happy Holiday Season to you and all the people you care about:)Mark
Yeaaaaaa! The backdate I have been anticipating for quite some time now, "When It All Began"!!! I still can't get over how different you looked! Are you sure thats you, Mark!? LOL! Just kidding! Seriously though, You look great in that photo, Mark. I really dig that cool 70's shaggy look you had going on. You are definitely a natural born longhair. You've had long hair most of your life! That, my friend, is inspirational! Well, Mark, The backward-journey has been great and so much fun! I want to thank you for taking the time to dig up these photos and sharing them with us, much appreciated!. Now, I think it's about time to hit that fast-forward button. Bring on the Updates! :-)!
Take care, Mark.
Hey Chris thank you for that cool reply:)I have to admit I take great pride in the fact that my hair has withstood the test of time as I know so many people over the years who had longhair but ultimately gave up on it:( Sometimes I think I'm an oddball being my life seemed to take a different direction than most people.I guess I'm just my own person as outside influences won't sway me.Also don't worry as now that I've completed my backdate series its time to look to the future:) Your a great guy Chris and I thank you for that.Have a wonderful Holiday my friend!Mark
The picture reminds me of myself and my friends back then. We all had hair about like yours and we were working on the facial hair as well. Great pic.
jeffrey.
Hi Jeffery,
Well thinking back to that time even then I was in the minority with my hair being even just that long.I don't recall any negitive comments so I guess there weren't any:)It was just something I always wanted. Thanks and have a great Holiday!Mark

Hey Mark glad you enjoyed my pics the last couple weeks.I'll certainly look forward to what you have to show as well.It must have been so cool to have parents who were music and hair friendly:)Hope your Holidays are exceptional.Mark
Hey Mark,
It's been a loooooong time since I've had the spare time to post a reply on the board, --- and who better to first reply to than YOU (lol)!!
I just LOVE old pics, and this one of you is hands-down PRICELESS!!! I'm envious of the fact that you have not cut your hair since shortly after graduating from High School... Now THAT is the sign of an extremely dedicated longhair!!!!
I've been trying to keep up with at least lurking on the board; but, at times even that has been difficult, due to my new job keeping me very busy these days. But, I did get to see some of your other recent post down the page, --- and I have to say that I've enjoyed every one of 'em!!
Thanks so much for sharing. I love the fact that looking back into time, we are also looking back into our personal history and our hair history at the same time!
Take care, Mark, --- and keep growin' that great mane of yours!!
- Ken
Hi Ken and a big welcome back as I certainly did miss you and noticed your abscence. Well you have a good excuse and I hope the job has been treating you well.
Its been great to have been able to keep my longhair in tact for so many years as I consider myself lucky never having been forced to cut it against my will.At this point in my life I figure I'm safe and should not ever worry about making such a decision.
I'm sure you are in the same boat being older like me and your hair is less an issue than it could have been at a younger age.All I can say is LONG LIVE LONGHAIR!LOL.Thanks Ken for your kind words and always love seeing you around here:)Have a Great Holiday out there in the Great West:)Take care my friend.Mark
Long live the early 80s! Interesting picture Mark, that cut and the shirt are in the spirit of the times! I should see if I have any pictures from that long ago still around. I really didn't take many pictures back then. It's fun to see all these old pictures now, to see what has changed and what remains the same.
We were so young back then but hey we still are now too! LOL
Take care Mark :)
Hi Chris!
It looks like old pics are kind of popular here based on the comments I've gotten so far.I really never been the one to have myself photographed much but at least I did have some of my longhaired years documented at different times though I wished I had more.Anyway I hope things have been improving for you in spite of all you've been through.I feel bad that you felt the need to shorten your hair but I respect your decision as you gave it much thought.Still it looks great even now but the main thing is getting healthy again and I will always keep you in my thoughts.Take care buddy and have a Happy Holiday:)Mark
Hi Mark...
Its great to see a blast from the past sometimes isn't it? Sorry I missed all your other posts...
Take care...
Tristan
Hi Tristan
Don't worry about missing the posts as you can always check the archieves.Anyway hope things are well with you and have a great Holiday Season:)Mark
...if everybody's awkward phase would look nice like this.
Unfortunately, many guys have really
wild, bushy and messy hair that is difficult to control.
Nice pic!
Thanks for your comments Luckskind as an unbiased opinion is better than my own critical self!LOL.I never remember the awkward stage being all that bad for me so probably I was lucky. It is interesting how everyones hair behaves so differently.Guess thats what makes us so unique.Anyway have a awesome Holiday!Mark
Thanks for all the pictures. There aren't too many of us diehard longhairs. I'll have to figure out how to post some of my old pictures.
