Hey hope everyone is doing well. Since I've been posting a lot of old pics I decided it was time for some fresh ones. This past Saturday I went to New York City with my cousin and her family to do some sight seeing and just enjoy the Holiday displays around town.We did quite a bit of walking but braved the subways to save our legs a bit.LOL. So during the day I took the opportunity to grab a few fun shots of myself and some other things. So without further ado here we go..........
This one is of me and my nephew at the Guggenheim Museum
Here is another of me by this odd piece of art made up of an old Mopar car!LOL.Looks like some guys in the background helped out with this pic.LOL
Hairball, Looks like you are enjoying yourself in the Big Apple! The old Mopar car looks like a 70 charger. Maybe one of several destroyed during the filming of the 70s TV series The Dukes of Hazard.
Hi JB,
It was nice the weather improved as the day went on and as it turned out it wasn't as cold as I thought it would be.As for the car I figured it was either a Charger or the Challanger but couldn't quite remember. And heres a trivia question that I'll answer later. What does MOPAR stand for????Have a great day:)Mark
Mark, Always wondered what Mopar stood for. Thought it might be a contraction like Motown or J Lo or an acronym like NASA or UNICEF. All I can come up with is the contraction "motor parts"?
interested!,
jonalbear
I've heard some comedians referring to it as an acronym for "Money Or Parts Are Required".
.
First of all I should have said this was not going to be a Chrysler Corp. approved decoding of the term "MOPAR" so I hope I didn't deceive any of you as that was what some of you might have been thinking. It was more of a spoof term based on the high quality of these vehicles in their heyday!LOL.So without any further suspense my answer is as follows.....................
MOPAR "More Old Parts And Rust"
Hope you all got a good laugh out of that one and no offense to you Chrysler fans.
Have a great day!Mark
LOL! Those guys knew you were that guy with 'THRASH' on his number plate. Excellent pictures Mark, I really feel like I 'know' you now after all your picture diaries. Take care my friend and have a great holiday!
~ Dave
Hey Dave,
Yea those guys definately knew they were part of the pic judging by their actions!LOL.Oh well thats cool just adds more to the shot:) I should have brought that THRASH plate and hung it on that old car as it would have made it even better. Not sure if the artist would agree but it would make the car ROCK!Also the METAL RULES bug shield on the hood would have been a nice touch:)
Thanks for your comment about getting to know me as I feel the same about you too.Your a great guy and I appreciate you participation on the board. You take care too Dave and have a awesome Holiday and New Year!See ya soon my friend:)Mark
Went to a Toys R Us in Times Square and saw this cool Lego of Pirates Of The Carribean.
Check out the back of this Lego Statue.Ever see longhair done in Lego blocks before!LOL
Hey Mark,
Looks like you had a lot of fun in NYC! I'm so glad my hair is not made up of Lego blocks, though, --- if it was, even I would consider a buzzcut in that case (lol)!!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Yea NYC was a lot of fun that day and even though the weather looked bad when we left to take the train in from NJ it turned real nice in the city by midday. As for the Lego block hair whats nice about that is you can just snap off the length and put it back on later.Maybe that pirate has an advantage here!LOL.Take care Ken and don't work too hard:)Mark
Finally the trip would not be complete without the traditional stop at Rockafeller Center to see the tree which was done up with all LED lights this year.
Heres another of the tree top and a huge building!
And lastly a pic of lovable me in front of the tree. Thanks for looking at my pics and wish all you guys and girls a great Holiday!Mark
Great pictures all. Thanks for posting all the big city shots; that's about as close as I want to get.
The hair looks great as usual.
Matt B.
Very interesting pictures Mark, sorry I was so late in commenting. This is my favorite mainly because it is a very good picture of you and I am a sucker for color overload LOL!
I have only been to New York City once and it was during the CHristmas season sometime in the 80s. Nothing quite like it!
I hope all your family had fun and I hope things are going well for you too. Happy holidays Mark!
Hey Mark..
Great pics! It looks like you had a nice time..
As for that Charger there ...
I say we grab some orange paint.. slap an 01 on the doors; paint a confederate flag on top and go look for Rosco.. what do you think?? :)
Take care..
Tristan
Hi Tristan!LOL Yea that would be a big improvement over the bare steel as the car looks naked! Also need a complete interior, dashboard, and an engine and an engine and drivetrain would be nice:)I'll also ask you the trivia question about what MOPAR stands for.Any ideas?Have a fantastic Holiday and glad to see you back my friend:)Mark
Hi Mark..
How bout MO(tor) PAR(ts)
... okay.. I had to cheat a bit and look around some.. :)
I was GM guy in high school ... sorry. :)
Take care..
Tristan
Complete with a 440, the distributor cocked sideways on the front of the engine, and of course the special horn...also, there's nothing like the sweet sound of a Mopar starter...
.
Hi Matt,
Yes the Mopar starter was such a sweet piece of work as I can still hear that sound in my head.Wouldn't it have been funny if one of those found its way on a Benz!LOL.Oh well maybe the new owners will bring it back in the retro Challenger.Oh how euro!LOL.Mark
Hi Mark,
What a great set of photos, reflecting the spirit of the season. Somehow, I had thought you lived in the big city itself, I guess you must live outside of town. Of course, your hair always looks fabulous, and the city dressed up in its hoilday colours looks awesome. That car SURE looks old, and could use a good coat of paint, and perhaps a few repairs as well, lol!
I would also like to extend my best wishes to you and yours for a very safe and happy Hoilday season, and all the best in the New Year.
Take care,
David
Hi David,
No I'm not a city resident but I'm certainly close enough being in NJ.As much as I love going into town I don't think the lifestyle there is really my thing plus living there would take away the novelty of going on occasion.Like the saying goes "Its a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there".
As for that car body I think it needs a little bit of everything!LOL.Kind of reminds me of the car I learned to drive on.Thats being a fire engine red Plymouth Fury III vintage 1969.You just had to love the sound of the starter when you cranked the thing up and was it ever a huge boat too!
So David I too wish you and your family a fantastic holiday and hope the new year is better than the last one.See ya soon!Mark
looks like fun i never been to NY but hopefully one day ill visit lol
Hey Mark you should come for a visit to the Big City as I know you'd love it especially being your first time. Its quite a place as there is nothing else like it.
Take care my friend and catch you on the next update.Mark
...because it looks just like my car after it was pulled from my burning garage. Nothing was left--not even the tires--NOTHING.
People heard explosions though I never did.
I'm a walking messenger who braves the subways everyday, I hope you had fun here.
Hi Kenneth,
Well thats a job thats got to keep you in shape and its a great way to learn the routes too.It would have been cool to run into you on Saturday if you were working but what are the odds of that happening as I'd have a better chance of winning the Lottery.LOL. Anyway it was a great day and we all enjoyed our time in NYC.Hope to be back again soon.Mark
You run into people you know from all 5 boroughs.
Hey Mark
These are all great photos! My favorite was that huge lego pirate. I wonder how long it must've taken the people to build that thing!?
Anyhow, Thanks for sharing yet another awesome set of photos with us. Take it easy Mark.
