How exactly do you make a bun? I've been trying for hours, and just had my sister do it.
Start as if you were making a ponytail. In fact, actually make a ponytail with a pony tie. Then take the ponytail and twist it like in a screw-like motion. The tail will start to bunch up. When this happens, take the twisted tail and wrap it around the base. When things get nice and tight, take a second pony tie and put it around the bun--it should hold it.
Or you can just hold the tail and twist it without the first tie. Then secure with one pony tail or secure with hair sticks.
Antesse has an excellent example although what i would do if I were to make one is fold the ponytail up in half or a couple times, while putting the hair elastic on, (the simple way).. anyway you like there must be sites out there with pics (or maybe ppl have some here)

Another simple way...even simpler than the above...
Put your hair in a ponytail using a pony tie. Loop the tie around one fewer time than normal so that you have a loosely-tied ponytail. Then go for another loop of the tie but do not bring the tail all the way through--this will create a bight of hair which is very bun-like...it will look messier and will hang a bit but will function much like a bun.
I do it another way - I put my hair, twirl it to a rope and put it a few times around itself, until I put an elastic tie round.
The thicker the elastic tie, the better the bun will stay for the whole day :)
