Wishing all of you the best this holiday season.
I'll wish you the best as well and happy Festivus.
hope your enjoying the slight warm up we're having
before Christmas. Then another dump on Sunday about
the time I'll be driving around Chicago (on 294) on my way to mothers. Joy!
Just curious I saw the Belden ave sign in the area where
you live or something from years gone by. Not to worry
I'm not some weird stalker going to come find you. LOL
I have a few friends in Chicago and one lived about three
blocks from Belden Ave.
Kevin
Just curious I saw the Belden ave sign in the (background of one of the pics)is that the area where you live....?
my typing is for shit. (grin)
Hey Kevin!
I'm also enjoying this 'mild' weather we're having. The winter is about the only thing I hate about Chicago and the sooner we get to spring the better.
As far as Sunday goes, the temperature is supposed to drop like a rock. They say the high will only be about 20*F! Brrr.
Best of luck on I-294. At least yo will be driving around on Sunday so traffuck shouldn't be as bad as usual. I wish yo a safe trip.
As far as the sign goes, yes, I am from Chicago and I do know where Belden Ave is. I collect antique signs and license plates as I'm sure you may see in some of my photos. The sign is from the 1960s. I also have a Leona Ave. sign in the same style but I think that one may be from the early 1950s as it is heavier and the letters are slightly bolder. The bracket is also green.
Since I was bored and felt like sharing a few photos:
Top Left:
Belden Ave sign again, The Leona sign behind it, you can see part of it but a bit dark and out of focus. I took these pictures with my webcam so I am limited to the length of USB cable I have on it.
Top Right:
A display of old Ohio license plates from 1935-1972 with the same number. I have been collecting license plates since I was 7 and my collection has grown to about 11,000+ since then. Most of them unfortunately are boxed away in storage.
Bottom Left:
A few signs that were hanging in my kitchen wall. These are signs I picked up from my travels and visits to the DOT. Both I-55 and I-80 pass through or near Chicago.
Bottom Right:
Miscellaneous "stuff". A few of my hats, vinyl records, old electrical junk and vintage beer cans (full). I've always had a desire to collect things since I was a kid.
Aw, I LIKE this kind of house ! All filled with a lot of strange, uncommon (and often useless, aren't ?) things.
The photo with the 5555Ws drives me mad :D
Bye
Vivien
Really good pictures - they've brightened my Christmas.
All the best seasonal greetings to you.
Jonathan
Some great inspirational pictures there Patrick.
Merry Christmas one and all and happy continued growing for 2008 and do keep away from the scissors (eh trimmers!).
For myself I'll be taking the M4, M40, A43 and M1 to the new parental home over the holiday period here. But I don't think we'll see any snow but rain on X-mas day.
Cheers,
John.B
Happy holidays to you, and everyone else too!
Let's hope no one catches any colds or flus :)
Hi Patrick,
I would also like to extend my best wishes for a very Merry Christmas to you as well, and all the best in the New Year. Your ponytail is awesome, and what a blessing it is to have fast growing hair like yours.
Take care,
David
Hi Patrick,
Your hair looks great and seems to grow quick. Lucky you!
I really like all your collection of signs and other stuff. That is very cool. I used to have a lot of road signs like that although I won't say how I obtained them.
And Best Holiday Wishes to you, also !
Walter
