Happy New Year everyone, and best wishes xD
I was wondering if any of you played the game Eve Online. The link to the website will be below. Personally I've played on and off since 2003 doing pretty much everything in the game. Initially PvP in 0.0, now I do business (research services, trading, manufacturing, and acting as a loan shark). In all this time I've never paid with real money for the game (it's the rare case where you can pay for the game subscription with in-game money).
I'm not going to explain what the game is about, since it would take forever, but it's about as close to a sandbox MMORPG as is possible.
If any of you play, maybe we can hook up online :)
Regards,
derf26
I have never played beyond the trial period, it doesn't seem like there is a point to the game.
Happy New Year everyone, and best wishes xD
Hey Derf26
Happy new year to you too.
As for your question i do play eve online aswell and am doing great (bit of everything player).
Im very cautious about private details though like email addresses and (main) character names so im not going to directly post them here.
I hope this aint an problem.
Could you post the name of (one of your alt if you prefer) chars here, so i can get in contact ingame with you?
Also let me know on which timezone you are (im on GMT + 1) otherwise if im not seeing you online ill drop an evemail.
I find it very strange that someone would not want to reveal his own contact information and then turn right around and ask someone else to do the same. To my eye, it is HE that wants the contact, so he should be the one to provide contact information.

$15 US per month seems a bit pricy but it probably costs
a lot to maintain such a complex game site. I took a look
at it and it is very complex. You could spend a lifetime
exploring a fraction of the star systems. I do like Sci Fi
so I could get addicted fast, except that it costs a lot
to play.

It's true, the price is high, but as I said I don't pay it with real money, I pay it with money I earn in the game :)
I think this is the only MMO that actually offers this. It's part of their programme of offering Eve to poorer people. For example, $15 in the USA isn't much, but for someone in Brazil it may be very much, so they're very considerate :P
You should play World Of Warcraft, its far superior to Eve.
www.worldofwarcraft.com !
I disagree. WoW has a huge grind involved, very little freedom compared to Eve, many servers (Eve has a single supercluster), and Eve has an excellent community, where the average player age is 25+. WoW is full of little kids shouting "OMG WTF I PWN j00", not to mention the cartoon-like graphics (Eve just got a major graphics overhaul in December worth 50 man-years of work). Then there's also the fact that all Eve expansions are free, while Wow charges for all of theirs'.
In the end though it's a matter of taste. Eve online is without a doubt a hard game to play compared to WoW and some people simply don't appreciate the freedom of setting your own goals, or are too lazy to get past the learning curve.
Besides, there's an intense rivalry between WoW and Eve players, so you're advertising to the wrong person :P
Hey Derf26
Im also playing eve online and i am playing by the name "thommy" and play it regurly.
I have not played it as long as you have (started late 2004) which makes about 3 years solid now :)
I used to pay for the game but have found those GTC payable with ingame isk to be handy indeed (and they safe you an load of reallife $ :D)
If i am not online at the time just drop me an message and i will add you to the ingame addressbook and will see when you come online
Hopefully see you soon in eve
