Hi. I used to post here a while back but stopped because of an incident involving Beanz and a split-ender lol. I probably wouldn't have posted again but I have a serious problem with my hair and I don't know where else I will get honest answers.
I have hair that is prone to splitting regardless of what I do. I can get it cut and it splits again in about a week. I don't straighten, wash twice a week (condition everyday).
Thing is. I am starting to wonder if keeping my hair is worth it? I wanted long hair all my life but now that I have it I feel like the only reason I am keeping it is because it took so long to get it.
What happens if you leave split-ends? Do they really travel to the root? Or do they just look bad?
I saw this style - which I am thinking of getting (but I will leave it for a month to see if I still feel the same way). What do you think?
BTW - My hair is to my shoulders. My 'bangs' are about 2 inches past my chin (They grow slowly because they are more damaged than anywhere else on my head.)

Sorry for that man, I was a little thoughtless just calling your post a plug,
(reading that sentence of an incident ivolving a split-ender and Beanz makes me laugh)
Kyle,
I've been the route of blowing up and coming back. In my opinion, you're welcome even if you raised a stink.
My question to you about split ends is about your diet. Do you think you're getting enough Omega-3 oils? I take a suppliment to make sure I get enough. I also put unheated olive oil over just about everything (salad, oatmeal) so as to get plenty of HDL (good) cholesterol to combat the LDL (bad) cholesterol.
You might try these suggestions before you get out the sissors.

In my experience, that's an old wive's tale that split ends can travel up to the root. But, everyone is different, --- and as much as I wish I could be the "ultimate authority" re. EVERYONE's hair, I'd be one ugly liar if I said that (lol)....
I remember you well, Kyle: you're from So. Africa, and have a GREAT- looking head of hair! Just a thought re. your situation: why don't you try trimming off split ends only after a regular set # of weeks / months (say, for example, after about every 3 months, if you're really worried about it that much)? And only trim off about a half-inch or less each time. It will grow longer at a much slower rate; but, hey, it's a compromise you might be able to live with, if you give it a try.
I remember from last time that you posted that you do indeed do a lot of things to take good care of your hair. A little bit of split ends is really no big deal. Having LOTS and LOTS of split ends, though, not only "looks bad", --- it's also rough and scratchy-feeling to the touch, as well as can get extremely hard to comb through, will snag & snarl more easily, bring on even more breakage, etc., etc., etc...
Maybe your hair is just catching up to the point at which you took care of that nutrition problem you mentioned before?? Just an idea...
Take care, Kyle, --- and don't be such a stranger!

As Beanz has said it's water under the bridge and most people are forgiving here and sometimes with forums and the written word things can be mis-understood.
Good to have you around again.
Cheers,

Glad you returned... =)
It's good to see you post again. As for your split ends
I wouldn't quit just yet keep working on them so far your doing
everything right. It could be it's just your hair is the way it
is. We can give advice but a stylist who can see and feel your hair could maybe offer better advice. I would recommend
seeing one before you give up on having long hair.
