Can lawyers have long hair? How bad is discrimination in that field?
I work in a law firm, although I'm a patent agent, not a lawyer. I've seen very few long haired guys in patent law, but that doesn't mean hair is an issue necessarily.
There are long haired lawyers. I've seen long haired lawyers defending people in traffic court. It's not the pinnacle of the legal profession, and they may be self-employed, but they exist. That's one thing about being a lawyer, if you can get clients you don't need to work for a boss.
There are also other opportunities for lawyers besides the standard client-based practice. I worked side by side with lawyers at a legal publishing company, and long hair wasn't an issue.

One of the most respected and competent lawyer in our area is a long-hair. I'm learning everyday that it isn't your appearance but your ability to perform.
Wasn't one of Michel Jackson's lawyer a long-hair too?
