Hello Guys and Gals from MLHH,
In January 2008, I reached the One Year Mark, one year since my last trim. Now, I'll post some pictures and some questions. First, the questions and comments.
1.- On the Frontal Picture, the red arrow indicates how my hair curls outside. The green arrow shows I'd like it to get down. I mean, it has the shape of a bell, I want an "U" cut or straight cut (this one better). It is time to trim it a little bit?. Any advice?.
2.- On the Side Picture, the red arrow indicates where those strands of hair are ending, the green one where I want them to end. I think those short strands are the ones that makes it so puffy and with so much volume. Am I right?. What would be the estimated time to see it more pulled down?.
3.- Pony Tail - That's how I wear it often. But personally, I'm tired of it. I'd like to wear it loose, but it still doesn't seems right. (Check 1 and 2).
4.- Half-Tail - No comments, I hate it. (I think because those short strands)
5.- Half-Tail-Solution - This is the 2nd most common used (after the single ponytail). It feels right, the green arrow shows how much I like the way it falls. BUT in a frontal look it looks bell-shaped, it stills curls outwards and I HATE it.
6.- On the picture above, Gaius Baltar from BSG, this is who I look after for growing my hair. You can google search for images to get an idea of what I want. I want to wear it loose, behind the ears, shoulder length, pretty much like that picture. Any ideas in how to style it like that?.
7.- On all the pictures, several loose hairs!. Frizz?. I HATE that too! Tried everything! Only gel works good, any ideas?.
I'll highly appreciate any comments, suggestions or advices in how to achieve the look I want.
Thank you all,
Restav.-

Restav,
First of all, congratulations on reaching the one-year mark! Your hair is looking fantastic.
I think you're well on your way to attaining hair much like Gaius' (although honestly, I think your hair is actually thicker and nicer looking). Seems to me you just need to let it grow a bit more. Soon enough, gravity will weigh down those ends, and the hair in back that hasn't reached the base of your neck will have "arrived." In my opinion, a trim at this point will only slow you down in reaching your goal.
Happy New Year!

Val,
Yes, I think it might take a couple of months to cut it. But I'm not sure if it'll make it look better. I guess I'm still waiting for gravity to do it's thing

That is a lot of hair for one year's growth.....thick and healthy.
Congratulations !!
I think time and length will solve most of your "problems". For "frizzies", try spraying a little hairspray on a brush and just lightly pull it through the surface hair.
Be patient, you are looking great !
Thanks for Sharing

Thanks Walter,
I kept following the olive oil hydration you suggested, still not have enough time to get the coconut balm to try.
Hello Restav, What great photos - and you have such terrific hair! Can we add that you also have wonderful eyebrows - lucky you!
A guy who has hair that you might like is Paul Mathieu. You can go to his website: paulmathieu.net Then, on the moving strip of photos, click on the photo of Paul. That will take you to more photos that show his hair.
I'm sure several of the guys on this mlhh site will have some good suggestions for you in regards to trimming or not trimming..
I think you are like me in that some trimming is important in a "style" or "fashion" sense - but we do want to go long and longer.
Best of luck and thanks for sharing your photos with us.
Johnnie
Johnnie,
Thanks for your comment. You totally understood the look I want. I'm looking at Paul's pictures, that's pretty much how I like it. He has thick hair like I do. Thanks for sharing the info. I'll keep looking for Mathieu's pictures.

Hi Restav, Excellent! Glad those photos helped. Be sure to consult some of the mlhh members - they will have good ideas for avoiding the trimming of too much of your valuable/wonderful hair! Best, Johnnie
Hola Restav
Congratulations on reaching the one year mark! Your hair is looking superb!
Hey Chris!
Thanks! :)
1. When you hair curls upwards, this is very common. Don't trim or you will just be delaying the problem. The LONGER you hair is the heavier
it will be and the curl will relax.
In the meantime you could use a comb to flip your hair in the opposite direction when it is
still damp.
2. Yes, short strands of hair are usually responsible for puffiness which is cause
by having hair of many different lengths.
3. Did you ever try a two tier ponlytail?
First you make a half tail. Then you gather up the rest of your hair into a regular tail. That is, combine a half tail with a regular tail. This offers the greatest control for hair.
Combining TWO tails also looks GREAT!
No!, First time I hear about this! I'm going to try it soon and report the results! :)
Your long hair sure looks to be doing ever so well to me.....and only one year! Magnificent despite being in the Awkward Stage. Just let all continue to grow "untouched" for another year and you will be seeing all in such as different perspective which is quite a happy one actually.
Welcome to the board!
Jezz... I'm just TOO impatient to wait!, But I'll do my best!.
Thanks Justin.
I did read all the details, but, I'll sum it up by saying this: very classy pic!

Thank you Jeffrey!! :D
Hi Restav,
What an outstanding update, sorry I did not comment earlier. Your hair looks incredibly thick and healthy, has lots of shine, and you have come a long ways in only a year. Your beard looks great as well. Whatever you are doing is certainly working, and I would not change anything! Just keep it growing.
Take care,
David
Thanks David!
Restav,
While you may feel very frustrated with your hair, I think it looks great. It's so thick and glossy, with a great amount of wave to it. Give it time and many problems will work themselves out, I'm sure. I can empathize with your inability to wear it loose. At a year and a half, mine is still often that way. I often wear it loose at home, but for work or working out it really needs to be in a tail or some sort.
Try that tiered tail Luckskind suggested. I used that during the summer to keep from roasting alive in the heat, and it works well.
Good luck!
Mouse
Thanks Mouse,
I tried the double tail just a minute ago, it looks odd but I think it's about getting used to it. I'll give it time.
