Hello guys and gals from MLHH,
I've been working out for a few weeks so far, lifting some weights and other things. It lead me to watch more carefully what I eat and when I eat, that's good.
Now, how to handle sweat and hair?. I get a good sweat after I work out and my hair gets kinda wet. I feel it dirty when I finish work out and sometimes I take a shower and wash my hair, but, I'm working out 4 times a week, and too much washing will dry it (been there), so, how to handle it?. Any suggestions?.
Res.-
Don't worry about it too much. You'll get used to it being wet after you work out, but unless it's really gross you don't necessarily need to wash it every time you work out. And yes, depending on your hair, too frequent washing can be harmful.
I work out 3 times a week and I used to wash my hair after each workout. Now I only wash it once a week, and it's in much better shape.
Restav. I find the same condition after I work out. Wash your hair without shampoo for a couple of those "washings" per week.
By this I mean scrub your scalp with just water and then let it air dry. Introduce almond or jojoba oil if you think you need them as a moisturizer. Once a week use clarifying shampoo followed by liberal amounts of conditioner thoroughly rinsed out after setting in your hair for 3 or 4 minutes. This works well for me. peace, jonalbear
Hi Restav,
I've been working out regularly for the last 20 years. Right now, I alternate between working out with weights and Bikram yoga. Both are hot and sweaty. I always shower afterwards, but I only rinse my hair with water. No shampoo. I do shampoo in the mornings with conditioner, but after workouts, only water.
The hardness/softness of the water where you live also has a huge effect.
