It is very difficult to know in which direction your hair whorls if your hair is long. You need
short hair to see the direction clearly.
Note: As with all things this study is a theory, so don't take it as scientific fact.
I bring this up only because it is an interesting hair related curiosity.
Any opinions?
My hair is counterclockwise, and i'm straight. It seems like a pretty random theory, but hey, you never know.
My hair whorls clockwise. I'm gay, for what it's worth.
How many on here have cowlicks? That's something I'd be curious about. I have them but they are slowly being tamed with increasing hair length.
Chris
Are all us feeling our heads now? LOL!
Counter clockwise, i'm saying nothing.
(i'm 14 and my hair appears to be well thing at the whurl, is that normal)
Would this be the head of a bisexual then? I just could not resist showing this image.
Mine is clockwise, BTW.
Scott
What nonsense - I suppose it is keeping some researcher in grant or fees!
Hi Luckskind
As I remember it very well, my hair grows Counter Clockwise but as you say, when hair is long it is quite difficult to tell. What interesting topics you bring up, but I agree that this should not be taken as scientific fact. However, as a curiosity it is indeed quite the mystery. Perhaps it has something to do with how the person sleeps so that the "whorl" is trained in a certain direction without even knowing of it?
Justin~
If one has a bald spot there, thus no whorl, does that mean he's asexual, celibate, reproduces like an amoeba, by splitting?
HA!
My hair is counter clockwise, I can say that because I recently cut all of my hair off, and yes, I like boys more than girls. Lol.
Well, I had a picture from a few years back that clearly showed my whorl, but it seems to have vanished into oblivion.
Speaking of whorls, I sat behind a lad with very short hair in a sociology class a few years ago, and I was always stupefied/perplexed by his decidedly off-center whorl. I realize now that this is completely normal, but I missed more than a few pages of notes because of it.

Genetic Model for Inheritance of Human Scalp Hair-Whorl Orientation and Hand-Use Preference Traits
Most people (90%) are right handed and most persons (90%) have a CLOCKWISE hair-whorl rotation.
Bottom pic: RARE DOUBLE WHORL
Mine is counter-clockwise. I also just discovered that my right ring finger is a little longer than my left! I guess I never thought to check!
And you are asking that question HERE? [grin]
Bill
Luckskind, Guess I'll never know! It just flows downward
to the middle of my back
peace, jonalbear
Well I can only try and recall when I was very young what my hair
did, and that was so very long long ago. (grin)
My hair isn't very thick so I don't think it whorled at all.
I'm not about to cut it to find out but if I did I'd post an
"I cut my hair" post just to be a smart ass.
LOL
Kevin
Interesting topic and it's got nothing to do with which side of the equator then!
Cheers,
