I heard that indian henna lasts for years and years...So i have a question to those who tried it:
Can henna be washed out?If so, how long does it take to completely get rid of it?
hello carla-b ... quenyan here ... as summun whose bin EVEREY colour o/t rainbow 'cept black (I'd've look'd DEAD, not the point, though!), I AM uniquely qualified to answer your question. Henna ITSELF lasts as a dyeing agent almost forever, as in they've found it in urns in ancient Egyptian TOMBS and it can still dye your hair, all right? BUT, as it has ACTIVELY colour'd your hair, well, THEN it is merely semi-permanent and will continue to wash out over time. Hey, it's a plant dye, not a chemical one. But, there'll still be a slight tint of its colour on your hair, no matter HOW long you've used it. Any further questions? Ask away.
eh,i asked this because i'm in an oh-i-must-change-my-haircolour mood and i have a freshly hennaed hair (it's been 1 month or so). So does this mean i should shave all my hair and wait for it to grow out? :S
I really wish i was as patient as you guys :/
Why shave ? Is the color so bad ? Surely, in a loooong time henna will fade, but the only thing to immediatly get rid of your color is put another color... henna for example, but a different color (you have different "mix" of henna, as I remember)
Bye

well, not that bad actually(dark reddish brown) but i'm just too bored to see a dull brown head in the mirror :( i know it sounds weird to you but, i can't help it :D
oh, and if i henna my hair again,i'd get a jet black or something close to that :S i'm never to touch henna again LOL
btw, thank you all :))
Whomever told you this was either lying to you or simply ignorant. Henna lasts for perhaps a week or two, gradually fading day by day within that time. I your source was thinking of tattoos. ;)
henna may not last forever, but it's more permanent than 1-2 weeks for sure (i've been wearing henna for a month)
That just plain ain't true--I wish it were, so I wouldn't have to use it every 3 weeks!!
that's good news; people must be given a second chance, right? ;)
Nothing is permanent, but henna does last a LOOOONG time if it's put on with some form of acid mixed in.
