I know the green tea fad is just about up in the United States, but it has been used for thousands of years in Japan and China.
This is miracle drink, not only have my skin and hair improved. It has helped me fight two addictions. Namely Soft drinks and Beer. Whenever I feel like reaching for a soda, I just brew me some Green tea. I always bring a few tea bags with me, so when I am at the self serve at Mcdonalds or Burger King I put two tea bag in a bottle and fill it with hot water.
Of course any type of tea would probably work as long as it isn't artificial like Nestea or Arizona tea.
Hi kenneth,
how has your hair improved? thicker? shinier? ....?
thanks.
I think I have some green tea around here.
The health benefits of green tea are proven. It's not a fad; there are direct results linking green tea to major health benefits.
Hey George,
I don't get to visit MLHH as regularly as I used to do; but, hopefully you saw my reply to your update pics way below, --- your hair is looking superb!!!
So, does this reply mean that I am off-topic, or on-topic (but not on the topic of the off-topic of the original off-topic thread), --- or, just off-topic from the off-topic; but, since MLHH is all about hair, then I'm on-topic??
Inquiring minds want to know... (Either that, or confuse readers even further - lol)
- Ken
I did and thanks!
Does the term "really off" ring a bell?
i heard that it tastes awful ,i hope it's not true :P (doctors recommend it for cancer sufferers,so it must have some serious benefits)
Awful? I guess that's a matter of taste. To me, coffee is "pleh", I don't care if it's Folger's, something with fancy flavorings or the beans were eaten then excreted by some exotic cat (Yup, one of the expensive coffees is basically cat scat). I like tea, and find green tea a lighter flavor.
Bigelow makes a green tea Earl Grey, if you like Earl Grey. You can also add lemon, lime, milk, honey, sugar, or other flavorings to the green tea to suit your own taste.
Depends on how you brew it and whether you sweeten it. My brand is a Chinese green tea called the The Vert de chine <--- I think it is french or something.
I live in a China town so I have access to some products usually only avaliable in Asia.
The trick with green tea is not to use boiling water--that makes the flavor harsh--instead just below. (I forget the exact temperature.) Brands make a difference too. To my taste, Celestial Seasonings makes the best, among national brands, and with several nice varieties. I like their "Anti-oxidant" brand, it has a nice citrussy flavor.
I can't speak to the health benefits, but it certainly beats sodas loaded with high-fructose corn syrup!
Arnold
Are you drinking any variety in particular? I am getting some peppermint tea from the supermarket soon, hoping to experience some kind of benefits from that.
....that will work on a severe cheesecake addiction????
Actually, green tea goes very well with many desserts... ~grin~
Green tea has more antioxidants than black-orange tea.
I will drink more of it this year.
Thanks for posting this.
I am a big Green Tea fan. In fact, today, I've been sipping cups of it most of the day. I love coffee, and start my day with it, but after mid morning, I really go sour on coffee. Not Green Tea!
Bob
The brand I'm drinking now is called Foo Joy China Green tea.
I love Green Tea.
I've sort of stopped drinking it with my recent energy drink addiction. e-e Some people drink coffee, those who are intolerant to it consume large quantities of caffeine in other forms. XD Maybe I should start drinking it again.
My mate Ray started drinking Sobe green Tea and started noticing
improvements in his health. Then he switched to Arizona green tea
I know it's not without it's additives but it is in amporvement
over soda and he swears he feels better from the things he suffers
since.

Any type of tea will not necessarly work. Many drinks that we consume today are not actually tea, they are tisanes (herbals). They do not contain the properties that the actual tea plant do. Read the labels.
The quality of teas on the market varies greatly also. Most bags use what are called "fannings" or "dust". In the industry they are also referred to as "floor sweepings". Yes, they may taste pleasurable, but the quality of the leaf is lost.
The level of antioxidants in the types of teas varies depending upon the processing. From most to least they generally are: White - Green - Oolong - Black. All tea is from the same plant, but it depends on how it is processed in what you end up with flavor and health benefit wise.
If you have a source, stick with the loose leaf teas. You will notice a deffinate differance in flavor quality and end results.
As you can probably tell, I could ramble on quite awhile on the benefits of tea. If you want more info, just ask, I'm more than happy to share with you all as reading the posts have been helpful to me. Happy to give a little back.
Blessings
