Hey guys,
As some of you may remember I posted two videos of my hair on Youtube. I just oploaded another one, check it out!
I tried to do something different, maybe it's a bit more artsy, hope you like it...
Youtube video
As I have already replied to Beanz re. his Youtube link, Youtube has added some technical item to prevent my viewing ability, --- and I don't have the patience, computer knowledge, or spare $$ to update whatever it is that I'm now supposed to get in order to watch Youtube vids like I used to be able to...
I got a lot of replies to my comments about this when I mentioned it to Beanz; but, the advise was all so different from each other that I chose to do NOTHING (out of protest, I suppose)...
I'm sure your newest vid is great, as I remember that you have fantastic hair. My best to you, even if I won't get to watch it...

Dear Kranky Ken,
It's not clear if Youtube did anything; it may be your browser.
Try clearing the cache from Netscape or Internet Explorer, then closing and restarting the browser.
Alternatively, just download Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com and use that as your browser.
Good luck!
Pete
Hi Pete,
I much appreciate your good intentions; but, you probably don't realize how truly computer-stupid I am... I mean, the lingo is like Greek to me, --- I haven't a CLUE of what you just suggested above (sorry to say)!
Thanks anyway for your kind reply! What I really need, though, is to join a 12-Step program or something for the computer-retarded.
- Ken
Ken,
It might be worth it to get one of those Geeks on Wheels type services to show up and fix up your PC. They'll probably do a bunch of upgrades, vacuum out viruses and spyware, and generally get your machine back into good shape.
I'm sorry to hear that... thanks for replying though!
Take care
Ken,
Have you posted specs on your machine? If you give us the OS, the version
no., browser and version no. you know, the usual client specs, maybe someone here can point you towards figuring out the problem. I'm saying that partly because I have a really old iMac that's ancient these days (7 years old) and the OS hasn't been updated and the browser neither (both OS 10.2) but it all still works with YouTube so I'm thinking it's not YouTube; it's something with your machine.
Rob
Ken has an old Mac - I've seen it - so you two might be able to work it out. I'm not sure if he has OS 9 or OS X. I recently got a new OS X iMac, and the YouTube stuff plays fine with Safari, Apple's web browser.
YouTube videos are in Flash, which sometimes has to be updated. That is usually easy to do.
Bill
Okay Bill thanks. Ken, if you are running OS 9, you are in need of an upgrade. I'm not sure if OS X can be installed on your machine. I'm almost certain that 10.4 can't. I don't think it can be installed on mine : )
We both need new macs. The good news is you can get a mac mini (that's the one I want to get) for around $600. I'm limping along on my old iMac G3 from 2001 until my financial situation becomes less murky. I'd go to an apple store and show them your mac and find out if they can do anything with it. If you get a new one it should work fine.
Try this Ken, click on the link Hairfreaky provided. When at the YouTube site right click on where the video should be. A box will open up giving you some options. Left click on "About Flasher Player (9 or some number)" and that should send you to the Adobe Flash Player site. That page that opened up should report to you whether you have the latest version or not. If not, follow the instruction to download the latest version.
Hope this can help.
Bruce
Hi Hairfreaky,
To to hear from you and thanks for the link to the video.
Thr other two videos were good and I like this one and as you say it's a bit more artsy and shows of you hair well. These videos are a great tribute to what you can aspire to if you grow your hair out and very inspirational as well.
Always good to see you videos and hope all is well.
Cheers,
John.B
> These videos are a great tribute to what you can aspire to if you grow your hair out and very inspirational as well.
That's of course the best compliment one could get! Thanks
Wow! That's quite a carpet of hair. Amazing!
Bruce
Thanks! That's a nice way to put it :-)
Your videos on Youtube are awesome. Your hair is incredible and has inspired me to achieve the length you have. My hair is currently about two inches above my belt, so maybe I'll catch up to you in about a year. Keep the videos coming. You and your hair are great.
Del
Great to hear my videos inspired you to grow your hair longer, I couldn't wish for a better result than that of inspiring others. Let it grow! Let it grow! Thanks for the compliment
I'm having problems too trying not only linking to this video but also bringing up you tube from a Google search as well. For some reason everytime I try to load the web site or link to Hairfreaky's video my browser just drops out forcing me to reload Safari on my Mac. This actually has been happening on other sites as well and the list just seems to grow longer as time goes on.Very strange as I have no idea why this is going on.If any of you guys are familiar with the mac the following is from my System Profiler...
Mac System Version
Mac OS X 10.3.9 (7W98)
Safari Version 1.3.2
Hopefully I can get this problem solved as its starting to be a problem lately. Thanks to anyone who can help.Just for the record my computer is four years old next month if that helps.Mark
Hi Mark,
I'm assuming you have to restart safari; not re-install it. do you get the spinning pin-wheel? I used to have a problem with safari crashing when I went to MSN websites because they'd use some kind of weird java type code that would work okay with I.E. (of course) but not enemy browsers.
YouTube otoh should work with anything which leads me to suspect you may have run into problems with your storage for webpage cache, autocomplete, and past sites visitied history getting filled up. You can try clearing that out by clicking on Safari up at the top left then clicking on Reset Safari in the drop-down.
Hi Rob
Thanks for the fast reply as I did try what you suggested but unfortunately the browser still closes forcing me to relaunch it again.Very frustrating. There is no spinning wheel just the blue progess bar advances before the drop out.Its weird as I used to be able to view You Tube before and even saw some of Hairfreaky's past vids with this same computer.I also have a PC desktop with Windows 2000 Pro so maybe I'll try it on that.Mark
I just replied to Ken's post in this thread and now I see you have the same problem. I can play the YouTube videos, and I have OS 10.4 (Tiger). Strange that two guys with Macs that are not brand new are having the problem. I got mine just two months ago.
Bill
Hi Bill
Yea kind of strange as this just started happening with You Tube on my Mac as I'm running the Panther OS.It also happens on some other sites as well when I'm navigating through the site and all of a sudden Safari drops out. When I used my old Dell PC with Windows 2000 Pro it worked fine and I saw the whole video.Mark
Have you tried to get an Apple software update to see if any pop up as available? Flash is a very common plugin, and if there's an incompatibility, Apple would surely jump on it pronto. Or Adobe would, if it were a problem on their end. So you could next check there.
Bill
I did the software update tonight so thats all set and I also just downloaded the Adobe flash player as well.Still though I'm having problems with that vid.I guess I can go to my local Apple Store and let those guys check out the problem.Mark
If you get any kind of error crash diagnostic message (something cryptic) try typing it into google and see what comes up. you may get a hit on an apple geek mail archive with someone posting a fix.
you could always also search google with something like
Safari crashes youtube
in fact, why don't I do that?
Ah, see below....
Apple support -- Safari crashes when accessing youtube
Hi Rob
Thanks for the suggestion and research into this issue. You've gone above and beyond the call of duty!LOL. Anyway I downloaded and installed Firefox version for the Mac and now have no problem with You Tube as I was able to view Hairfreaky's video on my Mac now.Hopefully Ken will see this and do the same as it was really easy to do.No computer training necessary!LOL.Anyway thanks for helping me out with this as thats another reason why MLHH is so great:)Take care my friend.Mark
you're welcome mark; glad I could help.
Hi Hairfreaky!
Finally I was able to see your vid using my old clunker PC.LOL.Wow your hair is simply outstanding:))It just seems to get better and better.Looking at the vid your hair is exactly the same type as mine but yours is sooooo much longer.I'm jealous!LOL.I also noticed we both have the same physique as well being really tall and thin.Anyway I give it the full five stars and then some.Keep 'em comming.Mark
Hey Mark,
I'm glad you managed to see my video as I remember very well your warm enthousiasm at my previous uploads. I did the video before combing my hair which gave it the texture you see - not too straight. Your hair is probably like mine but darker, I think. Mine is blonder then in the new video, but darker than in the previous videos. Apparently hair colour is difficult to catch on video...
Your long hair is absolutely remarkable and I am so glad that you have shared once again a video of such great inspiration.
Perhaps you might let us all know of the products as well as the hair routine that you follow as well as if you use a blow-dryer which always seems to be of concern to many of us who won't go near one.
This would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
Justin~
