I used to have longish hair years ago, just after graduating but I cut it all off and kept it short for about ten years. Then, one morning, I was on the treadmill in the gym watching VH1 (I think) and they were doing Red Hot Chilli Peppers special. I think it was Under The Bridge, where Anthony Kiedis is running around outside with his hair blowing about behind him... Seeing that made me remember what I was missing and I haven't cut my hair since. That was about two and a half years ago. It's longer now than it ever was in the past, about 1-2 inches below my shoulder blades, and still growing. I think it's time to find out what my terminal length is. Here's hoping I've got a lot more growing to do.
Well, it started when I was in gradeschool 3rd grade or so. I just went a long time without a haircut, not really thinking about it. I started getting comments about how long my hair was getting, and i just figured "Hey, why not give long hair a try?"
after it got very long, i cut it because i was aggrivated at always being mistaken for a girl. I was really missing having the hair, and i started growing it out again, since i figured by the time it got long i wouldn't be in gradeschool, and the being mistaken for a girl would stop.
And it has, for the most part. I'm a sophomore of highschol. I only have that problem with people that don't know me coming up from behind now. =)
I had always had a fascination for Native Americans, and as I got older, I came to appreciate long hair on men, mainly for the nonconformist attitude it implies. I figure that if I want a longhaired man, I better be a longhair, myself.
Well, for me it is nature and music. Nature has always been something I enjoy, especially the northern woods in Norway. For some reason I always thought long hair and the wilderness went great together. The music I listen has greatly influenced my hair growth as well. I am happy I have started to grow my hair (1 year and 5 months!)
That's a good question and one that I have thought a lot about as of late. Well, first of all I think that long hair is sexy. Now, the second reason is the real kicker. I have always resented the fact that I was circumcised as an infant and that kind of put a little rebelious streak in me. Yep, I'm a rebel. I guess I feel that in my own way I'm sending a clear message to all those ultra-conservative hypocrites that would hate me anyway. I suppose I'm telling them, hey, I know you want to cut my hair too, but this time it won't be so easy for you.
Well, that's how I feel and for some strange reason I suspect that I'm not the only one here that feels that way. I guess I just say what's on my mind, but, I never was very shy. haha!

Heh.
It was probably my friends obsession with long haired guys that got me into it. She had me and my friend Jon growing for a while. Then I got into metal and was inspired by the members of Nightwish and now want to grow as long as I can.
