Do any of you play sports? If so, what do you do with your hair?
I play badminton competitively, so I do a lot of moving around, quick turns etc. I used to get away with a ponytail, but then that started hitting me across the face and the strands sticking to me really didn't help when it came to seeing where to go next. I've been plaiting it for a while, but that's now long enough that if I turn to quickly, I get whacked in the eye!
I don't think a bun would work for me. It's not a look that I'm too fond of, and besides, I've never been able to get one to stay put for any length of time.
Does anyone have a practical solution for me?
Thanks
The bun would be the best solution and works for me.
Cheers,

How do you get it to stay put? I'm not sure if I could be bothered with a heap of grips.
You could try what is called "clubbing". With your ponytail or braid tuck the end back up into the rubberband or tie-if VERY long double or triple it or use a second band or tie. This creates a stubby little club or handle of hair that will not flap around and won't require pins or barretts. Gollam used to describe the technique on his webpage. Ancient greek men who had long hair used it in preparing for battle or sports
That sounds like a more workable solution.
Thanks, mate.
Segmented Ponytail + Use some sort of pin/clip to hold it against the back of your shirt
I play football (soccer) a lot, even though it may not look like it, and i'm just gettign tot he stage where the wind whips my hair into my eyes and blocks my view and hurts sometimes as well when it nearly pokes my eye out, i'm wondering whether i'm going to have to start doing something about it soon
As far as I know, the only options at the beginning of the in-between stage are a bandanna, a hat or braids. Gel or wax work up to a point, but they're not much good if you work up a sweat and they're practically useless when your hair gets longer, but by the time it gets to that stage, chances are it's long enough for a half tail.
When I had long hair in high school and had to deal with it for sports, the bun was one option, as was two braids then pinned to the top of my head using barrettes. Bandanas work too, for keeping the hair out of your face.
Ponytail it and tuck the ponytail in your shirt.
1. Wear a bandana.
2. Wear a bandana.
3. Wear a bandana.

Sorry, mate, but it's about a foot too long for that to do any good. Saying that, I suppose I could tuck the end of the braid into it...
