Hi. I know about the 'two week rule' that everyone follows. What I would like to know is what if you still can't make up your mind after two weeks?
I don't like how long hair looks on me.
I don't like taking care of it.
I do not have the same reasons for growing it now as I did when I started.
I have had compliments that it suits me.
I feel like it gets me noticed more (negative or positive).
It made me feel like myself for a while.
How do I make a decision?
I am beginning to believe that a man is either born with a love for long hair, or, he isn't. I have had long hair for several years now and I have no desire to ever go back.

For me it's either one of thoser things you want or don't want and after many years with short hair I grew mine out and I'm very used to it now and easy to maintain so I'm keeping mine.
I hope that helps.
Cheers,

If you don't like it anymore and you don't think it suits you, then maybe it is time for a change. Personally, I think it looks good on you, but it's also not my hair. =) See you around, buddy.

Just wait until you are absolutely sure. If you still have doubts, don´t cut it.
the most important question is: Are you happy with it?
If you're not sure about whether you're happy or not, don't cut it.Think of all the years you'll have to wait if you're less happy after haircut.
I cut my hair in 2000 and very soon after I found that every time I saw a guy with long hair would become envious and would long to start growing again. I didn't do that until 2005. (Every time I tried someone would insist that I should get a hair cut) Yes, it is easier to maintain short hair, but really it doesn't take me that long in the morning even on days that I wash it, maybe an extra 20 minutes on those days.
I would ask yourself if you grew your hair long for an image that may have changed over time or did you grow long hair for the soul. If it is the former, then cut it and be happy about it, if it is the latter, then you'll know what to do.
Take care,
Bruce
The purpose of the two week rule is to help you avoid spur-of-the-moment decisions that you regret later (often immediately!).
If you are conflicted about whether to keep your hair long or not, even after two weeks, my first suggestion is to give it another two weeks. If you don't want to do that, then I suggest finding (if possible) someone you trust who will give you a very minimal trim.
I would guess that when you had short hair, you probably were conflicted about that, too (I know I was) but when you have short hair, there is very little you can do about it, except find the patience to wait through the awkward stage if you do grow it out.
Sometimes the growing out process is like eating a whale. It can only be done one bite (day) at a time.
Good Luck!
Jim
You've identified 6 things, negative and positive. The first three are internal, the next two are external, and the last is in the past. Me, I would give more weight to the internal factors--it's your hair. If you were to make a sort of decision matrix, it seems that the thing to do is cut.
I totally understand, some of the same things led me to cut my hair in the 90's. One way to look at the two week rule is as a minimum. There's certainly no harm in waiting to decide, especially considering what takes years to achieve can be undone in a matter of minutes.
Looking at your reasons though, I have to wonder if you might be "done" with long hair. If it were me, I would pay attention more to what you think vs. what others think.

As if you would with anything else after pondering the situation. It is either one way or the other.
Well, first of all, your post is implying that there are only 2 rigid choices here: either 100% "LONG"; OR, 100% "SHORT"... Says WHO??
There is nothing wrong with considering a compromise, --- especially if you are feeling a bit tormented about it all. Personally, I enjoyed many moments during my so-called, "awkward stages", --- and some of the medium-length styles I had I think looked downright "good" on me!
I'll take "medium-length" any day over going back to absolute "short" hair... YUCK!!!!! i HATED short hair, --- always did, even from as far back as I can remember as a kid. It never, *ever* felt like "me"... There are many, MANY different lengths and styles between having a horrible buzz cut and having floor-length hair that you'll trip over every morning. You have more choices than you think.

All I can add is if descision making is your problem then flip a coin.
The other bit of advice is go get an inch cut off every two weeks
or one month and either you'll freak out and find you want long hair more than you thought or you'll say this is silly and just get it all cut. It's your hair do what's best for you.
My hair isn't perfect but I can't imagine cutting it.

According to the 2 week rule, you would keep your hair uncut. The way it works is if you feel like cutting for two weeks uninterrupted then cut. Otherwise keep it the same. And so here and now, you have 0 days towards cutting and would wait 2 weeks to see if your thoughts persist. If you are following the 2 week rule.
Yeah it seems to have a long hair bias but it was created to favor a status quo that is not easily returned to after cutting.
