Hey guys, sorry for another thread, but i thought it was much more off topic from the other one. I just wanted to talk about CO washing.
I have been trying it for two weeks now, and my hair texture feels great!! the curls are accentuated, smooth as, and doesn't look dirty at all. Though about 1/6 of the top layer... is still meh :( It ruins the sleek shine of the rest of my hair. It's pretty much dry and brittle from the root up, and i have no idea why this is. Colour, sun, elements, nothing that doesnt affect the rest of my hair, but no matter how many treatement and general care i give it. It's like its a whole different part to the rest of my hair. Ticks me off to no end.
But i thought i might take this chance to recommend CO washing to anyone who has thicker or curly hair that's feeling very dry or lifeless. Thicker hair and curls seem to work well for CO washing. Not like i've come up with something new... lol, just thought i'd share the success :)
My question is... how do you guys deal with an unruly top layer? I'd love to improve the quality, but CO washing, treatments, extra conditioner, nothing works. It's perpetually dry it would seem. *shrug* hehe
cheers!
First, congratulations on finding a routine that mostly works for you. It is good to see someone pleased with their curly hair. From what I have read curly hair can be prone to dryness (meanwhile other curlies like my husband can be the oiliest people in the world) and adding a hair friendly oil like jojoba or coconut can help with the dryness and maybe even some of the unruliness. Oils can go on wet or dry hair as a leave-in and add moisture back into hair and help weigh down frizzies.
A little oil goes a long way so all you would need a drop on each fingertip of one hand then rub the tips of both hands together to further thin the amount of oil. Then massage the oil along your scalp hairs where you are feeling dry. Once might be enough but depending on how much oil your hair sucks up it may need to be reapplied.

Thanks alot for the info elizabeth, i'd like to give the coconut oil a try, I hear its worked wonders for many. Shall give it a shot and see if i can fix these few dry parts up :)
