  I've been thinking of growing out my hair for some time.

  currently it's a bit over the ears and a little longer in back.

  how long on average would it take me to grow it to shoulder length?

    It depends on how fast your hair grows. Some people's hair grows faster than others. I once had a short haircut with my hair above the ears. Two months later my hair covered my ears.
