I've been growing my hair out since about October or so (from a buzz cut). I really want nice long hair, but I have a cowlick. It kind of looks like this (i'm a guy however)
(here's the link if the picture doesn't work --> http://images.mylot.com/userImages/images/postphotos/1829428.jpg)
It's pretty much at that spot and the hair curls in those directions. Now, its really becoming a pain in the ass. When I comb it forward, it can slightly cover the cowlick but there's less hairs that are able to do that, so it looks awkard. And since the curl is pretty defined, if I were to comb it down the middle, the middle of my hairline would have a LOT of hairs, and it would still curl a little. Basically, combing it down isn't gonna work. This makes my "awkward" stage even that more awkward.
When my hair gets long (hopefully I can survive this that long lol), I just want a basic part down the middle, or even at the cowlick, but I don't want any lift or anything drastic or stupid that looks like I did it on purpose. I want a basic "longhair" style, but I don't know if this is possible. Even a picture of someone who has a cowlick that has long hair would give me some guidance of whether or not I want to go through with this.
Any ideas? Thanks.
I have a cowlick in a similar spot. What I did was just parted my hair at the cowlick until it got long enough that the weight of the hair overpowered it. Once you have enough hair, the hair will be more powerful than the cowlick. Also, if you part your hair the same way all the time, it will naturally go that way. My hair now naturally parts in a straight line down the middle because that's how I wear it all the time.
I also have a cowlick. Mine, however, is on the back of my head. It can get annoying, but the hair weighs it down most of the time, until my hair gets greasy and then it's much more noticeable. You just have to part your hair to compensate for it. My girlfriend has a cowlick in the front like yours, and she uses it as the part and it looks great. No worries!
