Well, I am officially fed up with my hair right now. Everything I do its in the way, eating, working on computer, working on my bike, household jobs.
I still love it but am having to wear a tail nearly all the time now, I guess this is how its going to be as it gets longer - its just practical any other way.
On the up-side I am fairly happy with the way my tail looks now and don't feel such a dork.

First of all your hair is looking great and the tail certainly is very cool:)However All I can say is welcome to the club!LOL.What you stated in your post about doing daily activities is exactly what I put up with too.Once your hair reaches a certain length thats exactly what will happen so like you I have to tail my hair most of the time as well.Also if I'm at work or doing certain activities outside work I put my tail under a baseball cap to further solve the problem of hair getting in the way.Its just one of the trade offs of having longhair but to me its worth the effort as at the end of the day I can take off my cap,pull off the ponytailer, and just let the mane hang freeeeeeeee:)So Dave I hope you aren't getting too discouraged by this inconvenience because your hair is just too awesome to give up on it.Take care my friend:)Mark
Don't worry Mark, I still love it, its just one of those weeks I think, I have been a bit ill so maybe that didn't help. I just can't wait until my hair is as long as yours, so I will NEVER give up.

Your Pony Tail looks fantastic....when you are working, just tie it back and forget it. Bandannas and elastic sweatbands help also.

Look at the length of that ponytail, is your hair ever growing quickly these days! Whatever you do, do not yield to the lure of the evil scissors, and be sure to keep it growing. Before you know it, your hair will be waist length.

LOL, hey Dave, rarely have I ever seen guys survive the infamous awkward stages with such Class and Ease as you, --- so, to hear you gripe now about your ponytail I find just hysterical!
Your tail looks hands-down FANTASTIC!!! And I'm not just saying that, --- it really, really looks PERFECT!! As far as "having" to tail it... well, that's how I view long hair, too, --- it's just too damn impractical NOT to tie it out of the way. Whether a braid, a bun, under a hat like Mark (Hairball) mentioned, a bandana like Bill does, or just a simple tail... at the end of the day (or when you're feelin' "frisky" - lol), there's nothing more fun than yanking out that hairtie and shakin' it free!
BUT.... there is indeed a limit to how many times one can "enjoy" munching on a wad of hair while trying to relax and have a nice bowl of homemade NON-hair soup!

Well, the tail isn't the only solution, your hair seems long enough to braid it, or put in a bun. You're right, it feels kinda weird to have long flowing hair and be "compelled" not to show it off, but it's part of the game, hair will get in the way to make you know they're present and long and growing..and you're going to love it!
So, enjoy having your hair everywhere! It will reach a length where it will just hang on your back, you'll sit on it and forget about tails.

We all have bad days with our hair and as it grows longer the added weight certainly helps. I only tend to keep mine in a ponytai when I'm at work or doing something with machinery of keeping out of my eyes which I'm doing something. Also ears are good for that.
I think you hair is looking really good and the curls and waves give and added personality to you hair when it tried back and I'm sure looks great when it's down.
I've noticed that people have given me postive comments when it's down as you can see those old wavy grey hairs and texture and would not have it any there way.

Hey Dave, your tail looks great...that look suits you as well. You have come a long way. I know what you mean, I'm wearing mine in a tail most of the time too in order to keep thoughts of cutting it all off at bay. Come on...WE CAN DO IT!!!

The tail looks super! And, do I EVER know what you mean by hair getting in your way, and for when needed (which is quite a bit) mine goes in a tail as well.

Dave, one ray of hope is that the longer it gets the better your hair stays out of the way for the most part. Sure you will have to take precautions to secure it when cooking or doing messy jobs but that just means you are as mortal as the rest of us.
On the plus side more time spent tailed makes you appreciate the times it is loose and it makes a bigger impact on those used to seeing you in a ponytail.

You always have nice things to say. I've been wearing a ponytail myself. I was encouraged by one of my closest friends, who says she actually likes how my hair looks pulled back. Anyway, I feel that same kind of encouragement when I read your posts.

Dave - I think you're just getting used to having long hair. Over time, you'll learn how to avoid having hair get in the way. Your present hair length is only mildly problematic. Trust me on that (;-)

I hear you man, about the hair getting in the way. I suppose tying it up, braiding it, or just restricting is it any way is the only alternative. With that said, your hair looks fantastic, Dave. It has gotten really long now and looks very healthy. Keep it wild and growing!
