Yesterday, there was a fire at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino here in my hometown of Las Vegas. My mom used to work there. The good news though is that the Clark County Fire Department had it extinguished within an hour and a half.

It was actually pretty bad at first as you can tell, the building and 2 other resorts close to it had to be evacuated.
I find it amazing that in these days of 'fire safety' that such a major fire
happened! Wow.
I just happen to be in Las Vegas yesterday for a dental appointment and grocery shopping.....The fire was visible throughout the Valley and brought traffic to a halt. As I understand though, no one was injured.
It was likely before Dio's time, but for me, it sure brought back horrible memories of the 1980 MGM Grand fire.

I imagine a lot of Vegas old timers looked up and thought "oh no not again!" The fire at the Grand killed quite a few people if I recall.

Well if it's Ronnie James I'm sure a few flames would not hurt!

Yes it was awful. The good news is it was put out quickly, there were no injuries, and the building was evacuated quickly. Apparently the fire started from construction on the roof and
happened with no injuries.
The casinos practice fire drills regularly to prepare for this
type of thing.
