I don't know how many people here already knew this, but not watching
television much, I saw a recent pic of James Hetfield (for those who
are into long hair on men but don't know him, lead singer of
Metallica).
He cut his hair!
very short!
it's this horrid little part-in-the-middle not-past-his-ears straight
style, dyed some dishwater blond colour.
personally, I find it pretty horrific, and have several times had this
reaction with female celebrities who chopped their hair off, this is
the first time I saw a famous man cut his hair and was just horrified
beyond words (this is a strong sentiment from a writer).
He had such gorgeous hair, what the hell happened that could make him
get rid of it?!

You're just now finding out? (grin) He's had his hair cut short for a while now; at least, since Load came out.
My guess is that he got tired of it. Larz Ulrich cut his hair, too, btw. Almost as short.
well, I don't watch television and nobody told me.... after I found
out, I then quickly found out that everyone in the world except me
knew this for a couple weeks.... *sigh*

I know how you feel. When the singer Don Dokken cut his hair short, I was devastated! I can't believe he would cut his gorgeous brown hair off! All the heavy metal musicians are cutting their hair and that sucks!! I know it does suck. Why all the hot men are cutting their hair short, I'll never know.

Yes, it does.
Much more than celebrities cutting their hair does suck when friends
cut theirs. It's becoming more and more difficult to count the
number of friends and acquaintances who had long hair (which looked
good) and have since cut them :-E
Of course, it's theirs to decide. But it's still so sad...

I felt the same way a few years ago when I found that the musician Richard Marx cut his hair.
According to the Metallica offical website, Hetfeild had an accident (skateboard if I remember correctly) involving a head injury requiring some ungodly amount of stitches and they had to shave off half of his hair, so he decided to just finish off the look. As for the haircolor I have no idea though.....
