I find wearing winter hats a real pain when my hair is loose because hats tend to push my hair into my face. It's easier when I've already put my hair into a ponytail for work, but I avoid hats when my hair is loose. What do you guys do?

Marty,
I never ware hats, but I may decide to in the future as I am going bald. I run into my head getting really cold. LOL
I say your pictures on your site. Awesome hair!
Whhaaaa?? Wearing hats with long hair is one of my favorite parts of winter! Geez, I even wear my "winter" hats in summer just because I like the look of it...then again, I usually only let my hair get to chin length - and currently (due to my accidental chop) it's only 4-5 inches so wearing the hat has lost some pleasure... :(
Regardless, I lean forward and let my hair hang down, then I flip my head back and put my hat on so the front of my hair is held down by the hat and stays out of my face. Here's an old picture to illustrate how it looked and kept it under control.
Man, it makes me sad putting that picture up seeing as how my hair is only a mere shadow of it's former glory at this point...but someday it'll be back!
Simple. Manually tuck the hair out of the way after you put the hat on. So like slide the hair back while still pinned under the hat.
Tuck your hair behind your ears before putting the hat on.
Real easy for me. I never wear a hat and the hair has never bothered me as I am so used to it.
Easy. I never ever wear a hat.
That way I avoid hat hair.
H Marty,
Sorry, no help here, as I never wear a hat myself. The only time I wear anything on my head is during the summer, when I wear a baseball cap on the golf course to shield some of my face from the sun's rays. (and that is after I have already tailed my hair)

I don't play golf, or at least I haven't for many years now (my mum used to play and I played nine holes with her a few times way back when, but now we don't even live in the same country). I do sometimes wear a baseball cap in summer, though, usually if I am going to some outdoor event where there is no shade. I find that with the 'one size fits all' caps I can tuck my hair through the hole in tha back whether or not I have previously tied it back.
As for winter, usually I don't wear anything on my head, although it can get down to 8 degrees F/minus 13 degrees C here. the only time I really need anything on my head is if I go sledging with the kids, and I used to have a bobble hat for that, but I don't know WTH I've done with it.
Easy. Tilt your head back while putting on the hat, or tuck your hair behind your ears before putting the hat on. I do it all the time; it works just fine for any type hat, hood, etc.
I comb my hair down the sides in the morning and, once dry, I am able to put my lambskin hat (with curly lamb's wool) over my curls. If I had highlights, the hat would look invisible.
Cheers!
