Hello Everyone,
What if historic figures posted their progress pics on this site. If Louis the XIIIth King of France, was a member of this site, he would probably have posted his progress picks.
The 17th centure had two periods of "bad hair styles", everyone knows the poofy powdered wigs of the late 17th centure, and few know about one strange style of the early 17th century: The Lovelock. Imagine giving all your hair to "Locks of Love" and keeping a strand on the side, often tied with a bow, it is like a mullet, except it is short on the left, and long on the right.
I am including a set of pictures of Louis the XIII, from his teen years to the end of his life.
The lovelock was considered an "excentric" hairstyle in the early 17th century, like the fawxhawk today. "conservative" people either cropped their hair short, or left long at even length (Like Cardinal Richelieu, or René Descartes).
Enjoy,
Georges in Montreal.
That was cool Georges thanks for posting that.

I had always thought the sideways mullet was just an effect from the hair on his right side being pulled back to show his face in the painting. I didn't know it was a true fashion.
Bonjour Georges, Merci bien for your posting of Louis XIII. Great research and fun to see how long hair has graced the royalty! Amicalement and best wishes, Johnnie
