Dear All,
I posted my first post here a few weeks agao about my fears of a receding hairline.
One of you mentioned "methods" against it, but didn't go into any retails.
I uploaded a picture (both the picture and the post have disappiered for space or privacy protection reasons, which I appreciate) showing a lenth of 8cm between my eyebrow and my temples (I'm 21, btw.).
I can't find any (free) scientific resources on substances to stop the hairline receding any further.
Does anybody have access to the following article?
DOI 10.1038/sj.jid.5700883 "Androgen receptor co-activator Hic-5/ARA55 as a molecular regulator of androgen sensitivity in dermal papilla cells of human hair follicles"
Have any of you found any way to stop the hairline receding any futher? I believe there is no non-operational method of getting the hair back to the front of the head?
Undecided
Stop eating beef! We stopped eating beef in our household about 4 years ago because of mad cow disease. I noticed my hairline improved and got thicker. You see steer are fed male hormones to make them bigger so by eating beef you are artificially raising your testosterone levels. Now that I got a second chance with my hair I decided to grow it.
Has anybody tried Propecia (Merck)?
Your post/picture, and subsequent thread, have been archived. I provided a link below to your archived post. Propecia (finasteride), is a DHT inhibitor. If you have early MPB (male pattern baldness, or androgenic alopecia), Propecia is very effective. It has minimal, if any, side effects. But it is prohibitively expensive.
From what you say, it appears that you have a family history of MPB. The one thing with Propecia, is that the earlier you atart it, the better the results. It can arrest, and even reverse, MPB. As one person mentioned in your previous thread, only a doctor can tell for sure if you are exhibiting early MPB. Hairlines do recede naturally to some extent as people age, even if they don't lose hair elsewhere. And only a doctor can prescribe Propecia.
Your other option is to buy OTC minoxidil, and apply to the temple area where the hairline is receding. This is a topical DHT inhibitor, brand name Rogain, but also generic versions. You have to apply once or twice a day. Since it's OTC, you don't need a doctor prescription. HTH!
