Hey guys, I just found this site whille browsing through Google. I started out with a shaved head last summer, and now it's reached the 7 month point. My hair is getting annoying now. I got cowlicks at the nape of my neck and it's starting to get in my eyes now. Any way of telling how long this stage is gonna last. It seems like I have no control over my hair at all.I'll keep you posted on the progress if you wasnt.
Hello Mike,
Be welcome to our board, you just arrived one of the best places to get support, motivation, tips and tricks in how to growing the hair the way you want.
Looking at your picture I'd say it looks nice, I think you just reached what we call the "awkward stage", but do not worry, it doesn't last forever, but you need to go through it to be able to have the hair you want.
My very first advice is to check this page:
http://www.choisser.com/longhair/
It has lots of useful info to get you started. Now, you need to start trying different things to handle your hair while it grows, mouses, gel, hair spray, you need to try them all and find the one that suits you best. Growing hair is about getting to know yourself, do not get discourage if you find some times it's annoying, just come here and I'm sure someone can give you a hand.
Be welcome, and wait for more replies.

Hey Mike,
I have been on this message board for about a month or a month and half lost track. Anyways I am know what you mean with the hair getting annoying, in fact I was lucky that my job let me just put a cap over my hair to hide it.
I started the awkward stage around six months into growing my hair, and to be honest I struggled not cutting it all off and going back to the buzz cut I know so well. I am nearing my tenth month in a few weeks and my hair is slowly becoming controllable again :-)
From what I read it sounds like the year to year and a half mark is the golden number and from what I can see with myself I am beginning to think this is true for my hair growth at least.
Just stick with it, I like to call the awkward stage the teenage stage of hair growth you just got to play around with what works otherwise just hide in a hat like I did.
Take care and good luck,
-J
Dunno what a cowlicks are sorry
Axel
Hang in there Mike, it'll look great long. I guess I remember the awkward stage, but I tried very hard to make the best of it by enjoying the sensation of my lengthening hair.. The hardest part is weathering the comments from the critics, but there again I just ignored them.
Good luck,
Bruce
The awkward stage is very annoying but once its over it is well worth it ;) just wait it out and don't give in into any temptation to cut your hair
P.S is that a few basses I see lurking in the background :) lol
Yes they are. I got a fender P-Bass and an Ibanez, but I forgot what the number on it is.
