Do blow dryers and hair straighteners do permanent damage? Or can your hair "heal" and become soft again when you stop using them? My mom is crazy and won't let me go out with a wet head and every keeps saying that blow dryers are bad. She REFUSES to let me go with wet hair no matter what I say. Is there any blow dryer that won't hurt your hair?
I think enough heat can permanently damage hair. If you can get your hair dry with the blow dryer on the low setting that will be a lot safer. Also, you can get styling products which are designed to protect hair from being damaged by heat. I like Redken straightening balm. My hair just looks terrible if I don't straighten it to some extent before it dries on its own.
When are you washing your hair? Because I don't want to deal with a wet head in the morning and waiting for it to dry I wash it at night an hour before I go to bed (let it air dry completely before you sleep...matted down hair is bad) and then in the morning I finger comb my hair and splash a little bit of water and leave on conditioner on my hair (I also wash my face again in the morning). That way my hair dries up naturally again in the morning and it doesn't take that long.

Also, in the mornings I use a water mist bottle to get a little water in my hair and then use my hands to spread the water. It only takes ~ 15 minutes then for my hair to dry and my head isn't all that wet.

Why not just wash your hair at night and let it air-dry??
pro blow-dryer here :D
it does damage your hair to an extent, in fact, it's heat that damages the hair by boiling the water inside the hair strand.
That means if you dry your hair with low degrees of heat,it won't cause you any troubles. (keeping the dryer away from your hair might work.)
There's no reason to use blow dryers. They're bad for the hair, and hair usually looks better when air dried. Just shower at night and allow it to air dry before sleeping.
