I'm currently flipping out and hoping it's my paranoid self being overly me. e-e
For a while, the back of my scalp from the place where the hair 'whorls' out has been hurting. I thought it was just from wearing a ponytail too tight and so I stopped wearing them so tight, but it's remained, and thinking about it, that place on my scalp has always been a bit irritated.
Now the though occured to me 'O_O WHAT IF YOU'RE GOING BALD?'
That place is where it feels like all my shed hairs are coming from, and the hair seems more delicate and brittle there, and that's always been the case, even before I bleached it three times.
So I decided to take pictures and can't tell.

I'm hoping that's just where my part is, but if not... T_T
So uh, allay or increase my fears please? T_T And if it isn't baldness or traction alopecia, what could cause scalp pain there?
It's impossible to tell from pictures. Your mother is very supportive, can you have her look, see if there might be a rash or signs of infection?
With your curls, could it be curls tangling and pulling on each other, in different directions, like at night?
.
You really need to see a Dermatologist that deals with that sort of thing, as not all Doctors are specialists in that area. Furthermore, you might want to visit baldingblog.com for additional information.
Your particular situation doesn't look bad at all to me, but, see a Doctor just to be sure.

Paranoid I'd see a Dermatologist!

I have some irritation in that area myself, and yes that is where I'm going bald. I wouldn't think there's necessarily a connection though. Lots of men have balding in there without any scalp irritation.
I'll go with the crowd and recommend a visit to a dermatologist.
I had my mom check out my scalp.
Apparently there's nothing there but hair, and she was pretty thorough. I'll ask about the dermo though.
I would say that you're being paranoid-but if you want to have it checked out do so from a pro. Go to somebody who is bald and proud of it...ask them.
Something u can do on your own, though, is watch the area. Does more skin appear over more than a month. It looks ok to me....look at the back of your head using 2 mirrors over a long period of time to make sure some hairs aren't just resting.
As for the pain-I've had pain in the back of my head from wearing the ponytail too tight. Wearing it too tight pulls on the scalp and if it was pulled enough then you will feel it for a while. Now u know what not to do.
